Funny thing is, that I mounted an old FL 55mm f/1.2 and went out to shoot some flowers to see if I could not get some of those outrageous backgrounds that some of those old lenses produce, the light was not right and the results on the flowers were mediocre at best, but as I sat down on the back porch to review my shots along came a hummer and what the heck just of grins I took a couple of shots, no flash no anything just wide open at 1.2 and a 1/5000 shutter speed. Topaz has put some artifacts in the bottom of the image but are you kidding me?

Very interesting Geffory! That's not a look one sees everyday, any day for that matter. Well done.

Keep it up! Our hummers are still on vacation! I put the feeders out a couple weeks ago.

The picture is quite sharp and nice. High resolution isn't required for viewing on a screen. Also with hummingbird shots many prefer that the wings show movement so a little blurriness of the wings ofttimes is preferable.

Well it took me all week, several hundred exposures, and the help of a couple of enthusiasts who were kind enough to offer advice and encouragement but I finally got to the point that I was able to adjust my flash setup to stop the wings. Unfortunately I use two cards in my camera, one to record raw and one to record low resolution JPEGs and of course I only had the low res card in the camera when I took this shot.

An exceptional, spectacular capture๐ŸŒ€๐ŸŒ€๐ŸŒ€๐ŸŒ€๐ŸŒ€

Great shots! (If you were so inclined, you can always bump up resolution with software these days...)

Yes, I have both Photoshop CC and Topaz Gigapixel... They're not perfect but they do help.

Congratulations on attaining your goals, great image!!!!
But I prefer to see at least a little movement in the wings.

Well, that is interesting, I found that if I use a fast lens and a large aperture that I don't need flash to freeze the wings, which is a game changer because not only do I prefer natural light, but I can also shoot with High Speed Shutter enabled which produces some excellent shots. There is a mountain to my east so I have not been able to yet get good light this morning but I am sure that later in the afternoon I will be out there having some fun. This revelation to me also gave one of my lenses new life, I have a 180mm f/2.8 macro lens that I had shelved a few years back... it is perfect for what I am doing. The images below were shot high speed shutter no flash they are two images taken one after the other, a flash can't recover that fast. They were taken this morning in bad light so they were heavily processed because the ISO was set all the way up to 10,000, yesterday in good light I was using ISO 1600 which makes a big difference in the IQ of the shot. The third image is out of sequence.
