Seems all my camera straps continually slip off my shoulder. Is there a rubberized or otherwise sticky application that can be attached to the part that is supposed to reside on one's shoulder? If not, any recommendations for a strap that does retain its position?

I solved this problem a few years ago by buying the straps made by Journey Camera (formerly Upstrap). I've had several and they are all super.

I like my OPTECH for comfort but it does slip. Thanks Bob, I'll look into these.
Phone them up quick and get a commission deal.

Sadly, they're keeping them all for you boys / girls. U.K. and many other Countries awaiting post C19 shipment.

I also have an Opteck and , I really like it.

I had the same problem years ago. Here's what I did.

On my photo vest, I sewed 1/2 of the hooks women use on fur coats. The fancy ones I think are called "frogs".

A store that sells bolts of material always carries them

I buy 4 sets so I can use 1 hook end of each set, one hook toward the front and one toward the back on each side.
That way you can carry on either shoulder or carry 2 cameras. Also it will be harder for someone in a crowd to snatch a camera off your shoulder

Don't put them too much forward or aft, or at the very edge of your shoulder, you want to make sure they allow the strap to catch.

Don't buy small ones!

Good luck

I carry all cameras cross shoulders, like a bandolier. First, it does not slip, second the camera does not swing at all risking damage. The camera stays close to my body, yet I can pull the camera into position easily to shoot. If I am somewhere where I am going to shoot a lot I slip my arm through the strap so I just have the sling around my neck. I use OpTech with no issues.

👍👍👍

I have a Mindshift sling bag and Mindshift neck strap which stays in place either over my neck or as a shoulder strap. When I had an OPTEK strap, it worked well, too.

I’ve been using the same Upstrap since about 2005. Still just like new.

Thanks for the reminder, I just ordered my 5th Upstrap for a body I didn’t think would need it. They stay on your shoulder better than anything I’ve ever seen (comfortably). They also seem to be almost indestructible. Of special note are the quick release clips. Put your camera on a tripod and quickly remove the strap to keep it from dangling in the wind and out of the way while you photograph. The strap goes back on in seconds with an ultra secure click. If my wishes came true, these folks would also be making sleeves, straps and pads for all camera carrying purposes (especially my Domkes).

or "Cross Body"

Does not cross body = cross chest = cross shoulder?

I paint my camera straps (on the surface that will contact with the shoulder) with liquid latex. You can get various sized bottles at a craft store or online pretty cheaply. Totally non-slip when dry.

I use a cross body strap. No slippage. Added advantage is that it stays put when you lift the camera to shoot. Should something cause you to lose your grip on the camera it is still strapped to your shoulder.

I'll second that. I have the medium size upstart on both of my Z7s and X1ds.

The have yet to slip even on a rain slicker!
