A friend, who is not dying, just received the news they need to battle cancer for the fourth time in the last seven years. As we talked, the conversation turned to as a photographer what would you do with what time was remaining............and I ask you as a photographer. What would you do?

I have already begun this for myself with failing health issues . Albums of my best works to family & friends , donated cameras & various gear to deserving kids to encourage their participation in the craft , put the house up for sale and decorated it with my framed works as staging the rooms (minus any furniture) like an exhibition in an art gallery.....it really surprised even me when I took a second look at what may be my last hurray......who knew.

And I also directed all of my camera fans to visit and monitor this forum to enlighten them further into what we hold sacred. Continue shooting and experimenting to the bitter-end and I recently purchased a Smart Phone and have been taking pictures with it.......Oh what fun that was .......wooooohooo !
Still vertical and that's a Good Thing....the other...not so much & it's permanent i think. The End.

As a photographer- Make sure that several folks knew where and how to access the half dozen or so external drives containing decades of my images as well as boxes of prints in my safe. Family members might want them.

As the recipient of the family photos from my Mothers family and my Fathers..........over 3500+ photos and slides......... I have spent the last 4+ years digitizing the images on my Epson V600(I could have it done professionally but where's the fun in that ) and still haven't got half way.....

I'd take that one last trip of a lifetime, with a few close friends and family, and put it all on my credit cards!

My wish as a photographer is to photograph the last living Saint Helena cuckoo bird.

From my experience as a certified Hospice Caregiver I would have to say that the vast majority of men who I've been with until death the most important thing they do FOR THEMSELVES is to tell me what they have done over a lifetime. They gain solace by doing that knowing someone has all that info and therefore it is a living remembrance of their lives.

In case anyone doesn't know about being eligible for Hospice's palliative care, it means a person has six months or less to live.

Hospice does not necessarily mean 6 months or less. At times it means the Dr's can do not do anything more to improve the condition. That is my situation. I am in hospice care but after almost 4 months of hospice, I am able to many things, including driving. Hospice can be an indefinite amount of time if needed. It is possible to graduate from hospice meaning you have improved to the point that you do not need hospice care.

Being in the situation that OP is asking about, it is my goal to visit places to photograph that are close (within 3 hours). Although I need to give consideration to the activity and recovery time. When I do something that is bucket list-worthy I then put that on my bucket list this way I will have completed all things on my bucket list. I would like to the definitive photo evidence of bigfoot.

I am currently being treated for aggressive cancer (first occurrence not the forth) but I recently purchased a large format printer and have been printing favorite photos , matting them and giving them to friends. I am currently moving favorite photos from my library into a folder to create a photo book for my very special friend. I use to sell my photos but I am now being blessed by just sharing them.

As a person: Make sure my husband is taken care of and mend any fences I have forgotten to repair.

Well what I would for myself in the realm of photography, since we are just playing "what if", I would visit many of the different folks I have met here on the Hog. I would have a pork pie and a touch of the spirits with the Anglers. I would walk an easy trail with SW Feral and Ted. I would stand along side Cany as he showed what I thought was a nondescript area of dirt, sand, brush and weeds was actually a scene of a great beauty. I would ride the backroads with Jederick, UT Mike, Wilderness, Gray Mule, Cotondog, Dennis and many others. I would stop by and say howdy to Jerry and see what he is up when he is not replying to posts on the Hog. I would take a ride around the Ohio countryside with Sue Scott and do the same in Indiana with JayMatt. I would like to go on photo hike with Big Ced. I would like to talk with Scruples about life in general.
I would like to visit E. L. Shapiro and have him show me some examples of his work. There are many many other people on this site, I'd like to meet. Actually I would also like to meet some of the folks who are often cantankerous and see just what it is that makes them so sour, at least when they reply to other people's posts. I bet I would learn that most of them are actually very likable folks. Of course, I would like to have photographs made of me with all folks I visit for me to keep to remember my experiences and to post here on the UglyHedgeHog. The list above is not complete but only a few lines of some examples of some hogs I'd like to meet. The actual list would be several pages. Finally, I would be sure to visit Don Shaeffer in his lair and see what he is up to.
