I would do two things:

1. Family and people photos. Select my best (100-200), organize them and label them so my family does not have to do it. And give each member his own copy. Then throw away all of the remaining so they will not have to do it.

2. Keep shooting at my favorite old and new places.

As a photographer- Make sure that several folks knew where and how to access the half dozen or so external drives containing decades of my images as well as boxes of prints in my safe. Family members might want them.

Bill.............as a photographer? We all have altruistic desires..........but what would you do as a photographer?

Sorry, I took it to mean the sick person would be doing something with the short time left.

I would probably work with the family to compile a “lifetime retrospective” video “slide” show, to show the person while still able to watch, and to use later at the funeral or wake. I’ve done some in the past... they’re always joyful. The one I did for my Dad, unfortunately, came after his death. I wish he had seen it.

This question has been a little misunderstood.......and I take the blame for that It was not about life in general. It was not about sitting around feeling sorry for yourself.

It was about......as a photographer......what would be the things you would do "as a photographer" that you would want to do that you didn't make time for when you thought you had all the in the world.

There are more important considerations than photography......I get that......but call it a bucket list for photography if it helps you understand the question.

TW, I've given this a good bit of thought. As for the time remaining, I'd like to spend it doing the photography I've enjoyed until now. As to how was the more prominent thought. I'd like to die at the age of 150 by getting shot in the back by a jealous husband while I was climbing over the backyard wall.

A friend, who is not dying, just received the news they need to battle cancer for the fourth time in the last seven years. As we talked, the conversation turned to as a photographer what would you do with what time was remaining............and I ask you as a photographer. What would you do?

I guess I would want to do what makes me happy, how I want to leave this world, what final contribution I want to make to my family and/or society, and how I can ease the pain felt by family and friends. In terms of photography, I would want to refine what I had produced in the past, complete current projects I am working on, and fulfill my desire to take those photos that I always wanted to take, but just never got around to it. To feel a sense of satisfaction with my photography, my contribution to the field of visual art, and provide a representation of my view of the world we live in.

Perhaps take portraits with and of my closest family and freinds.
It would give them something by which to remember me.

My main goal as an amateur photographer for over 65 years ( I am 80 now) would be to make sure my photo files are available to my loved ones. I very recently lost my daughter who was an aspiring professional photographer. I am still trying to access her photos.

My wish is to be buried at sea and save the money to buy one of my grandsons a full frame camera. Then he can live a more adventurous life than mine.

Attach all my el-cheapo action cams to my glider, take off Frailey because it's a cliff launch and easy to get airborne at about 12:30 pm catch a giant thermal and spend my time at cloudbase enjoying the view. Take a point and shoot for those sudden once in a lifetime shots and hope to die in flight.

Being in that boat I've got 2 more bucket list trips planned but may only get to one of them and timing of covid-19 may prevent that one: first is Newfoundland with Steve Gettle for puffin and gannet breeding season and then Galapagos to shoot uplands Darwin's finches and then Equadorian Amazon for birds there. Even without covid-19 though nothing is certain so it's each day at a time.
