A friend, who is not dying, just received the news they need to battle cancer for the fourth time in the last seven years. As we talked, the conversation turned to as a photographer what would you do with what time was remaining............and I ask you as a photographer. What would you do?

Fight for youth causes. With nothing to lose, why not help young folks save the planet?

As a photographer, I'd like to keep visiting and shooting as many great scenic spots as I can.

Select my very best images, print out multiples of each, put them in albums and give copies of these albums to friends and family. Although I have been printing my images, generally I've only been making one or two prints of each.

Death wish?

Let it be quick and painless. This has nothing to do with anything like that 'bucket thingy'.

I do not see what this has to do with photography. Educate me if otherwise.

To provide love to my family and friends through my dying day and may they not grieve for me as I have led a full life. I thank them for being a part o it.

From my experience as a certified Hospice Caregiver I would have to say that the vast majority of men who I've been with until death the most important thing they do FOR THEMSELVES is to tell me what they have done over a lifetime. They gain solace by doing that knowing someone has all that info and therefore it is a living remembrance of their lives.

In case anyone doesn't know about being eligible for Hospice's palliative care, it means a person has six months or less to live.

Well, early in my life I have been close to dying on more than a few occasions. I have had cancer, in fact, waiting for an appointment for an MRI. Cameras photography would not be in the forefront of my mind's eye.
For me, I would make sure my wife understands our plan. She keeps up to date with our financial planner. Be with children and grandchildren. Spend as much time as possible with family and core friends.
Cameras, photography??? That would be down the block and around the corner.

Interesting question.
I'd be most concerned about what I could do to survive, or, if that were not an option, what I could do to bring things to a quick end. Photography is not likely to be high on my list of things to worry about.
