There you go again Bob, blaming everyone else and accepting none yourself.

That is quite a statement. It seems to me a projection of your attitude, but others would have to verify my opinion, if they care. I do know your statement is logical nonsense.

I read the entire thread in "For Your Consideration" and compared to many threads I've read here over the years your comments, which perhaps could have been more tempered and less critical, were extremely mild by comparison. In fact the person to whom your comments were addressed was highly insulting and demeaning when she said, "I see you are at it again. I think you may have some senility and perhaps you should get that checked. I am serious in saying this. You are quite offensive to many and there is simply no need for that." I don't know you well enough to comment on anything you might have said in the past, but kicking you out of that forum based on that one thread alone seems like a bit of overkill.
I read the entire thread in i "For Your Cons... (show quote)

I appreciate your speaking out. We both see, I think, that perceptions are quite unreliable. I've asked people, "So, you and I have thought things out, can detect bias in others--but how can we critique our own mind to find out if we really are correct?'

You would most certainly be right, IF I was trying to "prove myself." Why was it not obvious to you that, by citing specifics, principles, and logic, I was trying to prove what seemed true, and by asking for facts and logic from those who disagreed I was trying to reach some semblance of truth. Do you not think truth important?

If someone can prove my position is wrong, I now have greater knowledge than before. "If you are a person of the same sort as myself I should be glad to continue questioning you: if not, I can let it drop. Of what sort am I? One of those who would be glad to be refuted if I say anything untrue, and glad to refute anyone else who might speak untruly; but just as glad, mind you, to be refuted as to refute, since I regard former as the greater benefit" Socratic dialogue Gorgias, by Plato.

In my opinion artBob has been wrong in many threads and insisted that he was right. Still I don't think that is the reason for prohibiting him from posting.

I guess you missed where I eventually mentioned which moderator, R.G., of the three I thought overstepped his role. I didn't mention him in the first post, because accusations stick in our heads, and I didn't want to smear anyone. IF a person was interested in the situation, and read the thread, he would know the moderator whom I spoke of.

I regret that I did no feel a necessity to continue with the topic. At least I now know that there are those who feel it is acceptable to place shade on individuals and that it is OK to make a correction later. The harm was only temporary. Of course, for those who do not follow the postings, the insult could be permanent.

I did not read the FYC post ... though I did read this one.

Below may ( or may not ) give you an idea why some people feel the way they do.

No idea, except that facts or opinions supported by facts drive some people to feeling persecuted. Why that is is the most interesting part to me.

"Insisted he was right"--That would really bother me. I demand of myself and others facts and reasoning to back up opinions. I try to "insist" that we try to get at the truth by that route. Do you find something wrong in that?

I don't bother going into that! I and others have proven you wrong yet you still insisted that you were right. You never could see that you were wrong. But that my opinion. I don't support in silent you but please don't say I offended you.

Same here. I'm not allow to reply to threads
started by newbies. NOT for demeaning the
newbs, but for giving newbs a "negative first
impression" of UHH, due to my tendency to
not suffer fools lightly. Mod specified that it
is my harsh disagreements with established
members that gives the negative impression

Apparently it's better for newbs to encounter
bogus advice than for them to encounter any
heavy dissidence within the ranks. Now if I
open a thread and find the author is a newb,
I usually just close it without reading it. Less
frustrating ... but at the newb's expense.

I'd never bother with anything such as the
"campaign" that Artbob is attempting. Not
my job to fix management decisions.

But do as you feel is appropriate, Artbob. To
each their own personal quest ! But, may I
gently remind you, that this is not actually a
"free market of ideas". Like the rest of the
web, it's an advertising channel that thrives
not on "facts", "truths" or "ideas" but rather
on its entertainment value.

If folks don't feel welcome from the get go they could simply decide to go somewhere else. That benefits neither UHH nor the potential new member. It was easier before the internet. When a new potential member came to a camera (or other type) club they were usually welcomed with open arms. In time you could make judgements, but never before they decided to stay ... and PAID THEIR DUES $$$.

Use of the reply button generates
an "Access Denied, Not Permitted
to Reply .... etc etc" notice.

As to how I know the specifics of
the reason it is applied to me, it
was well explained in a PM to me.

The PM does indicate that there's
some recourse open to me, but I
find that simply not reading any
newbie-authored threads "keeps
the peace" ... and I'm not Jeanne
d'Arc out to save La France.
