Thank you. Do you know if KEH will supply the shutter count prior to purchase? I know mpb group does but don't hear that company much in discussions of camera purchases.

I've purchased several items from MPB. They are easy to deal with and are reputable.

All: I am in the process of purchasing a Nikon D750 and use my Nikon D7100 as a 2nd camera.
Currently, there is a bundle (Nikon D750 DSLR with 24-120mm VR Lens) for $1997.00. I can get a used body only for around $1,000 but have never purchased a used camera. Would appreciate any thoughts/suggestions. Thank you - Joy

Check around for better pricing, so many deals right now. just be sure you buy from a reputable camera
shop or on line retailer and get USA model ONLY. Good luck.

I can't address your price but a friend of mine bought a D750 and the 24-120mm f/4 zoom lens both new from a camera shop in the Las Vegas area and he lives in Henderson, NV these days. He moved up from a D3100. I've handled the D750 camera and lens myself. And it has really jump started his renewed interest in photography. I've seen that a FF 24MP camera like that far exceeds my 24MP APS-C camera by leaps and bounds. We've shot together. If you can afford a D750 get it!

Be aware (see post above) that there are two versions of the 24-120 VR..( as well as some old non VR junk).the first one was so bad that it was quickly changed for one with more elements.. physically they look the same. Check the spec on the Nikon website and you should note the number of elements and check the one you are buying has the higher number.
Just checked 17 elements in 13 groups ,,I think the old one was 15 elements.

The advantage of the 28-300 is there is only one model..dont forget to do the fine focus adjust ( mine was +15) and up the sharpness in picture control to +9

Back in 2015 when I bought my D750 I also bought the 28-300mm. But I traded it in for a Tamron 24-70 G2 series which is a real good lens. But I do miss the long reach of the 28-300. Then I bought the Tamron 150-600 G2 but now realize this lens is not very practical. Good lens but just too big to lug around. Perhaps I should return to a 28-300 with VR. ~FiddleMaker

Rather than used, I like to buy refurbished and I add a 5 year drop/spill warranty for not much more.

I used the Nikon 200-500 for birds in flight, Tamron 70-200 for butterflies and flowers, and the Sigma 18-35 for sunrise. Got great results with all three lenses.

All my current cameras were bought used as well as the majority of the lenses. If price is an issue, consider used and a vendor that allows a return, no questions asked, like KEH for 2-wks after initial delivery. The D750 is estimated to 150,000. You can estimate your usage. If you're 1000 per week, every week for the entire calendar year, that's about 2.8 years. But, if you where more like 1000/mth, that's 12+ years. Just review the source of the used body, whether you can handle it / check the count before purchase, or they provide a no-risk return option.

I am a Nikon shooter and agree with everything above. My F5, D300s, D700, and current D810 bodies were all bought used as well as the majority of my 11 lens arsenal.

KEH will not supply the shutter count. They say it’s too much trouble to go back into the warehouse. So I bought a D90 like new with 2800 shutter count from MPB and they disclosed the count before purchase.

I got a 750 used, refurbished, from Nikon. The shutter count was about1900 and the camera worked like new. Then I found out that carrying it and the 500 plus other stuff was too much weight and sold it to another UHH member.

I purchased my D750 with the 24-120 F/4 lens refurbished through Nikon.usa. Best camera I've ever owned. The 24-120 F/4 lens is great. I have a large assortment of quality lenses but I tend to lean on this one a lot because it it very versatile.

As far as store, I've been happy with Adorama and B&H for both new and used. Not sure who gives shutter counts for used cameras. But B&H seems to base their used prices on that. Last Fall I bought a used Fuji X-100T camera from B&H. They had several for sale, all with different prices. Some listed condition as 8, 8+,9 , 9+, (no 10s that day). I choose the most expensive 9+. And when I received the camera I found it only had a shutter count of 600. Virtually new! But Fuji does something strange with a few of their cameras, notably this model. The camera has both an electronic and mechanical shutter, and hybrid EVF and OVF focusing systems, but for some crazy reason the camera advances the shutter count even when you just turn the camera on or switch shutter modes. So the real count is much lower. I've only taken a handful of actually images with the camera and now my shutter count is 1100. So perhaps my camera was not really used but was an open box demo in the B&H shop for a few days. So I repeat, if you can get a good deal buy the D750 (24MP), unless you can get an excellent similar deal on a D810 (36MP).

I have a D750 with both 28-300 & 24-120 lenses. These 2 lenses work just fine for me, although the 28-300 is a little bit heavier than the 24-120. I bought the 24-120 used from MPB and I'm very satisfied with them.
