I took this image for the heck of it. The young girl/woman posed for me for a few shots (7) in a coffee shop. Only one light, offset to the right of the camera with a Wong adaptor.

This will be printed 24x36 inches and posted in said coffee shop for a couple of months.

What you have here are two screenshots (PS CC) and a greatly reduced JPG.

Please tell me what you really think about what is wrong or right.

The final result is post processed, compare the two screenshots to see what went on.

If there is an interest I will post the process in the PP section.

No, this is the gallery.

Some folks want an honest feedback, not ooooh or aaaah. The gallery feedback should both positive and negative.

I want the negative as it is the only way one can grow.

I would check for permission first, but I would remove the thing in her nose and over her left eye.

Nose rings and piercing are almost the norm now. In twenty years she may regret it, but today she loves it so... Her parents do not object so that is a hard one.

Both her eyes are partially covered by her bangs. Removing them might be an error (my opinion). Beside removing that many hairs w/o destroying the eyes might be really difficult - at least for me.

Her eyeliner is also a style I have seen frequently of late. I believe the origin is from Arabia (kohl). Arabs men and women have been wearing eyeliners for centuries. It seems that the reason was to reduce the glare of the sun.

Good suggestions thought.

First, she's a cool model. I personally don't like cutting off part of the subject. I changed the crop, keeping the rule of thirds by using Generative Expand to widen the crop on the right side and tighten it on the left side. I can post it here if you like.

Go ahead.

After reading your post, I have an issue with the image... I left too much over her head. I cropped it and run into another issue... With PS CC!!! It creates an empty pixel column!

I corrected it using the spot healing tool. The correction is invisible.

2 posts...

- Original (after crop and reduction in order to post on UHH)
- Corrected version (includes all issue when the capture was made)

Please DL (RGB Image)

Note the white border, PS CC issue

Different view where the frame is not filled*.
JPG straight from the raw file. ACR Correction: Lens profile.
This might help with your vision.

Note: RGB Image

---------
* I fill the frame in camera, as I loathe cropping.

I believe the main problem is the single light. She looks flat, like drivers license picture. Pretty girl, though. Doesn’t need the metal😄

Different process with better results on the skin...

RGB image, using an IMG tag. I should have done that from the get go, sorry.

Curmudgeon, I used your suggestions.

You are quite right on the flash and the image looking flat. PP did help quite a bit on that.

I have no problem with your photo. However, I'm too old to appreciate nose jewelry. Nice face but I may have chosen another.

I do like the skin tones better here. Now, retouch the stray hairs on her face and the sore on her lip. Don't worry about the jewelry, it's her choice to look that way.
