I have the same problem. When I hook my phone to the PC, it says it don't see my phone. I'm using my charging USB cable and I see that might be the problem. Thank you.

The charging cable is the only one I have for my phone. One does need to make sure the phone is "live."

I wound up getting an inexpensive USB cable tester.
I can tell me:
• charge only or full <4 wire> cable
• intermittent cable or connector problem (wiggle them while watching the tester lights)
• which wires are buggered. (Vcc, Gnd, Data-, Data+)

Thanks for the tip

Can anyone tell me how I can download photos from my Samsung Galaxy S8 android phone to my computer using a USB cable? The photos reside in two places, an app called Photos where they go if I take them with the camera, and an app called Gallery where they go if I save them from some other source. When I connect the phone to the computer, the computer recognizes it, apparently as a drive, but can't see any folders or subfolders.

Thanks in advance.

Just email the photo to yourself!!!

I had the same phone. You can either email the photos to yourself then open them on your computer and download them, or open google photos on your computer and download the photos you want. When I take a photo with my phone it goes into gallery and google photos automatically.

Click on photo, find SHARE, then find your email address click on it and then click SEND. It will come to your email address, I then take it into photoshop and play with it.

Thank you. I chose the e-mail route, but it is cumbersome because I can only send one at a time.

The email route is very slow and I would never have the patient to do that. You do see the drive icon on your PC right? But when you double click on it it doesn't show you anything right?

Another option is to use the Microsoft Phone Link app it's more convenient than email but still I like the direct cable much better.

From now on, I think I will rely less on my phone, and more on a camera with a card.

Not a good choice if the problem was caused by the cable you tried being charge only.
Need a cable that has the data wires in it.
