Maine is a democrat run state with no red flag laws. What does that suggest??

Let's start small. A simple red-flag law would be a start. Then, as there's already a section of the HIPPA laws that allows healthcare practitioners to share information with the police, let's make that happen.
We just can't stand by watching our fellow citizens be slaughtered and wring our hands and whine about there's nothing we can do.
The fact is, that we are doing nothing now and it isn't working.

I am not a psychiatrist so I will not parse words with you. I it just my opinion if a human can deprive another human of their life in an O.J. scenario, if they have that capacity for such behavior, then at least for the moment of the act they are not displaying sanity. Even someone who premeditates a murder and is found to be legally sane enough to understand the charges and participate in their defense has to have been a bit short of a sane, rational human at the time of the perpetration. I do believe a red flag law could have possibly removed the weapon (s) and created enough time for further intervention. However, not arguing against such laws but how many times have we heard, even though the vast majority of shooters have left a fingerprint (clinically, conversations with associates or social media) that it was never brought to the attention of anyone who could legally intervene. In my state we have the very laws that you would advocate for, the strictest gun laws in the country yet we still experience our share of such incidents. I only take issue with laws that are passed that do nothing, written by people who know nothing about firearms, the kind of laws that have prevented any new generations of handguns in our state for 10 years or recently passed SB 2 that virtually renders a legally obtained CCW useless.

That their violent crime rate is so low that it never crossed anyone's mind. I would attribute that to their sparse population. What were you insinuating?

The most effective way for you to proselytize would be to not let anyone know that you are a christian. They would be much more likely to want to be one if they didn't know you were one.

Sounds like they may have some doubts about what they believe.

As long as you were willing to "render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's" I had no problem with you.

You probably have a lot in common with that rat. Vermin seem to be attracted to other vermin.

Instead of being a wise a$$ you should be questioning how in the world this guy spent time in a mental hospital only to be released after two weeks and then months later got access to deadly weapons.

Ok, what would you have done to prevent it, keeping in mind that last year the total number of homicides in Maine was about the same as last night. Why do Republicans fight fire arms laws tooth and nail, and then want to blame Democrats when something like this happens. I don't have a lot of answers. I would hope that our representatives in washington would do some serious study and figure out some compromises that would at least address the problem, but it's not going to happen. Republicans are too busy trying to police our sex lives. There probably is no easy answer, and I'm sure mistakes will be made, but right now there isn't even any discussion taking place. I assumed you were trying to make some sort of point.

I don't believe this is what the founding fathers had in mind when they wrote the Second Amendment.
If it was, then they were a bunch of sick bastards.
It's time to do something besides this silly thoughts and prayers shit.
Let's look at real solutions even if we have to start small and do it in increments.
Right now, in this country, guns are the leading cause of death in children. That statistic alone should be enough to force action against the gun lobby and the NRA.

The gun ownership tipping point was passed some time ago. Now popular figures of hate and derision in the US are arming for protection against 'bad guys with guns and ropes'. I have no idea how to slow it down other than treating all semi-autos as a REALLY Big Deal and very difficult to possess legally. Semi-autos are an extremely dangerous class of weapon, as demonstrated weekly. Relax 'gunners', get a grip, it'll never happen ... tool up.

The new normal: Women and LGBTQ+ people are buying guns in 2020
A pandemic, a presidential election and racial unrest caused gun sales to surge. Will this usher in a new class of Second Amendment voters?

It's the incessant ..."Only Christians are capable of caring, etc." ... that wears thin with regular people.

Jesus wouldn't recognize Christians today.
If they'd actually follow the teachings of Jesus, we'd all be better off.
The fact that I don't worship any invisible beings in the sky set aside, if worshipping Jesus makes you happy go for it, but how about obeying his teachings?

Christians today refuse to recognize Jesus.
