Wyze.com several to choose from - you can put a micro SD card in them and they can transmit to the web (although you probably don't have a WIFi connection if you have no power). BUT - if you are renting it out I doubt it is legal to record without consent and if you do anyway it will be in-admissible in court.

This property belongs to the OP. She can do as she or her family chooses to put up cameras etc. without anybody's permission, even IF it was being rented to someone else. The inside of the building, if rented, may not be recorded but surely the outside can be.

Renters are the ones who caused the vandalism. Getting water and power back is WAY beyond my means. Selling it is out of the question, as it is our old homestead and has been in the family since 1835. So thanks, for responding, but no.

Simply Safe has a very reasonable alarm package with cameras and they have the ability to talk to the criminals as well as notify the police which respond very quickly when they know someone is in the home. The system is extremely easy to install and is completely wireless. Worth a look

I have an old farmhouse that sits unattended. The vandals are destroying it. The sheriff's office suggested I put in a security camera, but I have no electricity there. So I assume it will require a solar panel. What sort of inexpensive security camera could I put up (brand name, model, etc.) that I could use images from to prosecute the vandals? And where on earth could I put it that the vandals wouldn't simply steal the camera! Also, since there's no power there, how do I keep it running? And since I live thousands of miles away, how do I monitor it?

Kathy from past experience with County LEO even with Photos they usually don't do anything and after reading the rest of your post it would be a waste of money.
Somebody made the suggestion of getting power to it and renting it out.
Or Sell it.
Thats what I ended up doing with my Old farm and I was only 100 miles away from it.

Sell the farmhouse. Offer reward for vandal ears. Build 8' security fence. Accept that humanity is not worth the effort to keep it extant. Choose one from above.

Where did you get your law degree from?

I believe you are fighting a losing battle here. I know of one brand, Eufy, that has cameras with a built in solar panel. You would have to check that it would record to an SD card in the camera. While some cameras have built in wifi, I don't think there are any that also have a router, firewall, and web service built in, which are necessary to get on the internet. Someone would have to stop by, retrieve the SD card and view the videos on a pc/tablet. This is a tough one.

We had a, almost, similar problem. We owned a fairly large property in a rural town about 2 hours from where we lived, that had a lovely white high concrete wall surrounding it. It was rented out and the tenants were long term and nice people, but they could never catch the low lifes that painted graffiti on the fence. Police apologised they could do nothing unless they caught them in the act. But they did give me the name of their likely suspect who lived not far away from the property.
I tracked him down and had a quite a good long chat with him. Never accused him but offered him a deal.
I paid him $10 a week to be in charge of security. He didn't get paid if the fence was ever graffitied.
For the next 12 months, maybe a bit longer, no graffiti. Then we sold it, but for $500 a year it was cheap security.
Maybe a version of this approach could help.

So what will a security camera provide?
Knowing that the property was damaged quicker?
How quickly will law enforcement respond to possible vandalism when they are overwhelmed by more pressing matters.
I am not raining on your parade just being realistic.
What purpose do you see the cameras being used for?
Record
Reporting
Instant response through an alarm making noise to scare off criminals if they care.
Not sure how just a camera will change things.
Then we can decide what system.

I want to record something I can turn over to the sheriff!

Contact a local nature organization that might have similar structures and see what equipment they use if electricity is not available. Massachusetts Audubon may be one to check out. Just make sure that the sheriff and local DA will actually prosecute the bad guys captured on the cameras before you spend $$$.

They have told me that if I can "identify" the people, they will prosecute them. Thanks for the tip. I may call them.

There are cordless security cameras, but all they will record are pictures of vandals wearing hoodies. If they spot the camera, they'll either steal or destroy it.

Maybe a silly suggestion, but old lumber can fetch decent prices.

See, the vandals stealing the camera possibility is what has deterred me to date.

With due respect to the OP, who on earth would check the cameras and how often?

I thought I could ask the farmer to check it when he's there.
