This is nonsense. They ship it with a guarantee that you can return it in ten days. You obviously just want to slander them for some reason. Keep it or return it, nobody here really cares!!

I’ve had good results with MPB regarding a concern about an item received. As I recall they were a little slow in email response, but once they did the resolution of the concern was quick and to my satisfaction. I continue including MPB on dealers that I review when looking for used equipment.

I'm sorry that you have not had a good experience with MPB. I've bought more than several items from them, each with no problems. I purchased a lens from them that was exactly as described but turned out to be useless to me. I requested an RMA which was quickly provided to me. MPB even paid for the return shipping.

When I had issues with them about three months ago that were resolved, their phone number was 646-513-4309. My issues involved return of lenses I had sent in to sell when their price was too low. They said they had a backlog and the return was delayed about a month.

To the list of satisfactory resellers, I would like to add UsedPhotoPro (the used camera wing of Roberts Camera). As a favor to a neighbor, I sent them a bundle of camera gear, and they sent back a check for more than the original estimate. Quick turnaround as well. I ave purchased several items from them as well.

Yes Roberts has a solid reputation,

Cheers and best to you

There are several things I have learned not to use email for. Customer complaints are on that list. I always call and detail the problem. If they want a photo or copies of paperwork, I'll try to email it to a specific person, rather than a generic mail address.

I bought two lenses from MPB in late 2022. Both are fine, and arrived in better condition than they were advertised. Both of them did need their front elements thoroughly cleaned. Other than that, which took five minutes or so to do, they work great.

I've not had any real issues with MPB, KEH, or UsedPhotoPro (all .coms). I shop them interchangeably.

I have been buying all of my gear from Allen's Camera in Levittown PA for many years. Although Allen passed a while ago, his son Brandon runs the business now. All of the folks there are wonderful and everything is a great experience. I purchase new, and some used stuff, from them. If you are on the other coast, they will ship free on the new stuff. A more personal experience than the big guys. Best of luck.

I concur, I have used Allen's Camera in Levittown, Pa . for decades for both new and used gear, trades and sales, first with Allen and now with his son Brandon. A true family-owned and run business. They are a huge favorite of countless longtime pros and hobbyists alike.

IMHO they are the best in every way. Yes I have bought stuff in my long career from the big boys of B&H and Adorama, but Allen's is still my fav, their personal attention just can't be matched by the big guys.

Cheers and best to you.

Oops. I sold them two of my old lenses. Was thinking of using proceeds to buy used Sony 24-105 from mpb. But was also considering buying used Sony lens from B&H. Any comparisons here between MPB and B&H for buying used lenses

Linda, MPB, KEH, and Roberts' UsedPhoto Pro are all great used dealers. I've never had a problem with all three. KEH did send me an adapter they had marked wrong. I called them. It was a $20 part, so they just refunded my card (immediately) and said, "Keep it! Sorry for the inconvenience!"

All other purchases from these three have been quick and painless, with on-time or early delivery and I have to say, better-than-advertised condition. I have not sold anything to them yet.

It's interesting that the first response here to a report of questionable (at least) customer service is a chorus of voices saying "you're stupid...I've never had a problem." While past performance is good to know about and can be an indicator of future performance, it is certainly no guarantee. Some of the real ancients here could probably make a strong case for the goodness of Abes of Maine if that were true. (And just so you know, the US car maker who redefined the domestic benchmark for quality and reliability in the late 1980s and 1990s now sits solidly in 35th place among the 35 brands that sell cars in the US for those parameters. So past performance is absolutely no guarantee.)

In this time of impersonal, long distance buying and selling, I appreciate knowing how a company I might deal with treats and responds to its customers. It is too tempting and too easy for these companies to just "take the money and run."

In this case, there may be a reason for the slow response. Perhaps MPB has allowed too many of its employees to enjoy some post-holiday time off. Or maybe a big bunch of them quit or were laid off. But not responding to customer problems is not OK in today's world. It is not conducive to long-term survival.

MPB is the largest used photo gear dealer in the world. They have operations in the UK, Germany, and the USA. They have had some growing pains here in the past year or so, but seem to have solved them, if my recent experiences are clues.

Well, I haven’t done business with MPB. So I can’t write anything good or bad about them. Check online with other hoggers. I routinely go to B&H either in person or online. It’s a great store and well worth the experience.

Call Abe's. They have lots of stock and are always calling their customers back with great upgrade deals on their already low prices.

No phone number listed on the site. An email should work and 5 days was enough time to answer.

I have found that many companies now don't list a customer service phone number. But I've always been able to find it with Google. I got (646) 513-4309 for MPB.

I am quite sure MPB does stand for Matt P. Barker the founder of MPB.com.
