I cannot fathom how anyone could object to "Oriental", for inanimate or animate! I anticipate the time coming - near term - when any verbal communication will "offend" somebody or something! Next to be forbidden will be facial expression, then "body language"!! When will the 99.99% quit believing it necessary to accede to the stupid/arrogant/attention seeking demands of the 0.01%??? And now as a "World Citizen", I guess I can't say that my ancestry is English, German, French and a touch of American Indian. I suspect the safest action is to facilitate inaction - gather a supply of opium pipes and retire from societal contact completely. After all, there are those who maintain that what we perceive as reality is nothing but a dream! It appears that now, for many reasons, I'm fortunate to be 95!

The more I ponder this image the more my mind wanders to the question of what makes this a great photo.
It cannot be the background (or the Oriental rug!), so it has to be the model and the lighting. And while the lighting is superb (front/back ratio, exposure, etc), for me it is the model that makes this photo great. And THAT speaks to the unwritten but often expressed rule that comments about the model are off limits. This lady has a great figure, fantastic unblemished/tat-free skin, amazing hair, a beautiful face, AND... she knows how to pose. I am not referring so much to the physical positioning of the body, but rather the facial expression. I can picture any number of women sitting in exactly the same setting, with the same lighting, and with arms and legs posed identically; yet the photo would be more of a "Do I look OK?" shot because of nervousness doing a nude shoot.
So contrary to the "no comments about the model" attitude, THIS shot IS all about the model!!! She has the body and the self-confidence to work cooperatively and successfully with a great photographer to achieve an almost intoxicating image. Great work... from both of you.

Well spoken Loren, I agree. This PC crap has gotten out of control because not enough people stand up against it and just ignore these brain washed idiots. Let's keep the UHH site PC free.

I would think it is impossible to take a bad photo of this model. However, after I stare at it for an hour or so I begin to look at the technical aspects of the entire photo and realize that the lighting is as excellent as she is. Fantastic job. Only one comment, next time don't mention the rug it attracts too many noncontributing comments that I read thru without gaining any knowledge

I agree about that. But I learned a lot by mentioning the rug. Thanks.
Sure…it's a fine term for both rugs and people. It's a descriptive term and IMO not derogatory at all…any more than POC or white or Indian. However…she doesn't look oriental…not many blondes overthrew and features don't appear that way to me either. She's also bigger chested than the majority of oriental woman I would say.
