Is it still appropriate to use the term oriental?

I see nothing wrong with the term.
And the only thing I don't like about the photo is the way her hair interacts with her left nipple; it makes it look distorted. Maybe a bit of local contrast adjustment could separate the hair lock from the breast surface just above the nipple.
Otherwise, a beautiful woman and great shot.

Oriental when used to describe a rug or other item is perfectly okay.
It is not okay to describe a person as Oriental.
Hope that helps.

It should be titled "Asian-American Carpet" 😊
The political correctness can be stifling. It is an Oriental rug. I just bought a hand made rug from Pakistan. Can I not call it middle eastern?
Anyway, never mind.
I like this example of lighting. Two lights I think and a reflector?? The ratio between her left side and right side is solid. The light from behind her right side makes her hair the real subject of this portrait. Good work by your lighting tech, FA. Ya, I know it’s you but be proud of all the hats you wear.
Basically a good photo, maybe cropped a little too tightly, but hey, it’s yours to crop as you see fit. Again, I’m a big light fan and this lighting is done nicely.

Nice edit. Now there is NOTHING to not like about this image.
According to my Merriam-Webster dictionary it should be capitalized. <grin> BTW, nice model & photo too. <double grin>

I cannot fathom how anyone could object to "Oriental", for inanimate or animate! I anticipate the time coming - near term - when any verbal communication will "offend" somebody or something! Next to be forbidden will be facial expression, then "body language"!! When will the 99.99% quit believing it necessary to accede to the stupid/arrogant/attention seeking demands of the 0.01%??? And now as a "World Citizen", I guess I can't say that my ancestry is English, German, French and a touch of American Indian. I suspect the safest action is to facilitate inaction - gather a supply of opium pipes and retire from societal contact completely. After all, there are those who maintain that what we perceive as reality is nothing but a dream! It appears that now, for many reasons, I'm fortunate to be 95!
