Billozz, as has been mentioned, if you shoot action and wildlife it would be well worth it since it has the duel processors and shoots high fps and super fast focus. Not worth it if you don't.
If you do get it, get it direct from Canon, refurbished on loyalty program for about $1100. Same with the 60.

I have a 7D. Any discussion of what is the best camera must start with the question what will you be using it for? If it's for personal use taking family and travel pics then you will probably not need a FF camera. You might not even need a DSLR. A good quality superzoom might be all you need.

I bought the 7D for it FPS rate among other things. Recently shot my granddaughter playing soccer. Got some great action shots using the 8FPS mode. I also need a built in flash as it's not always practical to have a flash mounted on your camera while walking around. For Canon users that rules out a FF camera. Don't know about Nikon or others.

For the last few years I have been making annual trips to Disneyland and Lake Tahoe as well as shorter trips to Monterey/Carmel. I have used a Panasonic superzoom which shoots RAW and takes pretty good pics. Later I upgraded to a T2i and then to the 7D. Yes the T2i and the 7D have better IQ but at 4x6 or posted on the web the difference is not that noticeable. And a good superzoom is a lot easier to carry around. My Panasonic Lumix is always with me in my truck so I never have to say, "I wish I had my camera with me." when I'm driving around. This is the newest version of my Lumix. http://www.photographyblog.com/reviews/panasonic_lumix_dmc_fz200_review/

But if you have the DSLR bug then go for it. I like these guys. Their videos are fun to watch as well as informative. Maybe this particular one will give you some insight and help you decide.

Good luck and happy shooting.
