I think they didn't anticipate that they would dip into the pro-sumer market at a price tag of $5500 - it's not just "pros" buying it!
Great news. I hope they continue with the success of the Z9. The D500 has been discontinued so maybe there will be a Z8 to replace it. It would be great if the Z9's autofocus system trickles down to other models.

Wouldn't it be Z80 or something? Because it would be in DX format.

Good to know. I plan to buy one when and if they bring out the 200-600 lens.

I Agree. MT Shooter has always provided helpful insight to the forum. Missed his posts too.
There have been rumors about a Z8 being released, will be interesting to see what else Nikon has up their sleeve. I am still hoping that Nikon will keep expanding the Z line, having a 135 f2 would be very welcome

I agree. A healthy competition between the various manufacturers is good for all. Plus I'm not sure UHH could sustain itself absent the brand rivalry.
Yes without brand rivalry, UHH would be silent, LOL
I am happy for Nikon, they need to succeed as good competition drives them all the innovate. Nikon pros have waited a long time for this camera, and the sales reflects many of those Nikon shooters finally moving from their beloved Nikon DSLRs to mirrorless.
Dont get too carried away by these numbers, aa new camera will have more sales initially. For example the Sony A1 has been out over a year and led all pro sales for several initial quarters. Pros aren't buying new expensive cameras every quarter, so the latest one tends to dominate.
Overall numbers for pros mirrorless users still heavily favors Sony and Canon, but I am happy Nikon is back at the big-folks table where it belongs.
All the top news services and media outlets that switched from Nikon and Canon to exclusively Sony gear for their staff photographers and staff videographers worldwide in the past 20 months are NOT suddenly switching to Nikon Z9s. Just the reality.
But I do applaud Nikon for their excellent Z9 (whose sensor is likely manufactured by Sony, Nikon wont deny it, lol)

And the excellent products he sold from his (now sadly closed) store!
I am not a pro, does it matter?
I always buy the best there is.
Why be frustrated with mediocher stuff.
You only have one life.

Exactly. But the Canon fan boys want to discount the facts as "amateurs" buying pro Nikon skew and distort the numbers. But only PROs buy Canon Pro bodies, never do amateurs but Canon pro gear!!!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I've never left the forum, I've just been less active here since retiring. But thank you for the complement.

I still post occasionally. I just don't read the forum daily since retirement. But I try to catch up once a week or so.

I was very fortunate to retire and close my store 10 weeks before Covid scare restrictions would likely have forced me out of business anyway. Funny how fate works sometimes.
I do miss the interactions with all my customers often, but my phone number has not changed and I still get a few calls every week and am always glad to help with any issues I can.
