I'd drive to the 6 miles to Ace before I'd get who knows what <off> brand on Amazon.

That would not be bad , but the cost and tax would probably be make me think about it a little harder.

I have bought from this supplier before (not amazon) and they have quality products.
Put them in various locations around your home and shop. Next time you look, you should be able to find one of them before too long. Maybe should have bought 24 if you're like me.
Manglesphoto, I feel your pain as well as being quite confused.
Two current examples have me scratching my bald head. I needed an EU to USA plug adapter for a charger for the microscope camera. I found one for $2.75 that included shipping. Next, I need a pair of disk brake springs for my Ford F350 Super Duty truck. They look like a pair of stretched-out paperclips that could easily fit in a standard envelope. They were less than $10 for a pair...however....standard shipping was over $25. I'm so confused!!!

I miss Sears hardware departments.........
That is what I was going to say, sets or singles at Sears. Sears broke their own Golden Egg.

Grins....our nearest Lowes/Home Depot is a 2 1/2 hour drive! Our nearest town is an hour's drive. We have to do with what is available, or what can be acquired reasonably online. I noticed this trend begining many years ago;
I am in need of a screwdriver. I used to be able to buy a single screwdriver....now, everyone has "kits"!
I don't want to buy a kit!
An often frustrating world we live in...sigh!
Makes you think that you should have just bought the sliding rail.
But then what would you have done for the rest of the day? Take Macro photos?

I just ordered some audio cables from Parts-Express. The lowest flat rate postage was more than the cables. I checked out the cost of comparable cables at Best Buy and found they were more expensive than the delivered cost of the mail order ones. Plus, I would have to drive 15 miles RT with gas at 4.00 a gallon. So there is something to be said for paying the freight!
Yes, shipping is getting expensive. It's more than that. An employee has to pick the item then it gets wrapped/ boxed in some cases put in a mailer. Now it is placed on a shipping/dock. A driver picks it up goes to the distribution center gets sorted placed in a container for another distribution center unloaded placed on a delivery vehicle then a driver rides around from place to place gas costs how much? Then it is delivered. A lot of hands in the mix.

Yesterday I began working on a sliding rail for close-up/ macro work, this is for coarse adjustments, I went to get a #29 drill bit and found it missing, where it is? hell I don't know.
So the search began: No one within 25 miles of me have individual bits, they have sets @ $20 + tax and a 52 mile round trip, Next comes the internet One supplier has them @ $3 each plus $22 shipping , what a deal-no deal!!
Finally found them for $1.03 ( ten or more ) plus shipping $11.45 (min. chg.), I ordered a dozen keeping the cost to $1.97 ea.
I now have a lifetime supply! unless I misplace them
They should arrive before my next birthday
