On Sunday, went to Washington, DC to witness the flags put in front of Washington Monument in remembrance of the victims of Covid19. Here are photos to share with our members.

Yes, the last one says it all. Even from the rear, you can sense her sadness. Thanks for posting. I didn't know such a thing was going on. It wasn't on the news that I could remember. What group organized this?

Some very dramatic shots here. They give a sense of the sweeping physical tribute.

Stoking fear - U.S. population around 328,200,000 in 2021 according to the census bureau, do the math. In 2020, the last full year, 690,882 died of heart disease, 598,932 died of cancer. Where are their flags? In the same year 345, 323 died of COVID. Source JAMA

So many of those do not have a universal option to prevent many of those deaths. Covid does.

Nope, nothing like diet, exercise, washing hands, staying home when sick, driving carefully,...
Nah, no preventive measures at all.

So because people have died in other ways that means we should do nothing to fight Covid? That is completely irrational!

Can’t fight genetic predisposition with hand washing.

I wonder if they’d take a vaccine if one were available?

They were just trying to put things in perspective. Never heard anyone say do nothing. Sometimes fear is irrational.

Fear? No. Sadness. Determination. Yes.

The afflictions you cite all deserve -and receive - serious attention. The afflictions you cite are, to some extent, self inflicted and preventable by the affected individual. Neither is person-to-person communicable. Neither has an exponential spread rate. And neither can be addressed - contained, prevented - with simple, straightforward personal action.

Great images. And a great reminder of the ongoing deaths of too many people from COVID.
The comparisons fo deaths from other causes is weak deflection; that contributes nothing to the issue.
