Hey Doc ..... so far I've asked the OP twice if Adorama gave him an estimate for his lenses before he shipped them .....

..... the OP is not responding .....

So, maybe Adorama's not wrong this time!

I joined Ebay shortly after they started. I did well in selling antique glass that I posted. I stopped using Ebay after they bought out Paypal because of the new stipulations they made sellers use. I havent looked lately but it was getting close to costing a seller 25 to 30% of your profit margin because of their new rules.

I agree it is possibly the best way to make a quick sale but if you have the time Craigs list is the best way to go. With ebay cutting your profit it comes close to what Adorama or B&H offers. Ebay was starting to get rediculas.

Hey Doc ..... I'm not trying to find you wrong but I just looked into your 25 to 30% expense selling on eBay and I think you're a little high .....

..... from what I see it's more like approximately 14%..... yea ya gotta use PayPal for payment for most items you ship but that protects a bit and it's supposed to be quick to get your money .....

As I stated earlier I have not used Ebay in a while. I just looked and you are correct, I was a little high on my guess. It is more like your 14% figure when you include using Paypal.

To be completely honest when they bought Paypal and did away with the seller being not allowed to accept money orders and such it really aggravated me! It still does! How I receive a payment should be my choice, not theirs.

I have no complaints with Paypal. I use it for sales from my private web site. I find it convenient and like the protection Paypal provides for both the buyer and the seller. My problem was,and is, with their rule changes trying to force the sellers to use payment methods of their choice, which cost the sellers an additional fee so they could increase their profit margin instead of allowing the sellers the options they previously had.

Paypal costs the seller an additional 3 to 4%, depending on the type of account you have, but it is worth it considering that you do receive your payment quick and the protection you receive. Paypal has, on occation, helped me from being scammed by those that have tried. When someone offers you a payment thru Paypal check to see if they have an active account, it might save you a lot of headaches.

I will consider using them again but it is going to be on a very limited basis. Things like photographic equipment will go on Craig’s list first where I can make the sale private and not cost me an additional fee. 3% may not seem like much but it ammounts to $21.00 on $700.00 sale. I will take that in my pocket any time.

I have no information, even after sending 2 emails inquiring about an estimate. Jack responded once stating "much interested" after I asked about the sent equipment and that's the last I've heard.

As you have acknowledged to one of our used dept. reps that you didn't actually send the items to us at all, would it be possible for you to remove all postings from this thread asserting that you DID send them in?

Helen,

You meen all of this was a fraud, he never sent the equiptment at all? If this is the case couldn't Adorama take some type of legal action against him?
