Creative outlet. I remember taking an aptitude test in school when I was around 12 or 13 years old, the results of which indicated that my greatest abilities were in technical areas but my greatest interests were in the arts. Go figure. This test didn't tell me anything I didn't already know, having picked up my first serious camera at around age eight and realiziing almost immediately that photography was the pursuit for me to allow my creative impulses an outlet.

I like the technical aspects of modern cameras - lots of stuff to play with. I also like using the computer to do post processing.

If it was just point and shoot and have them printed, I'd lose my enthusiasm.

Several reasons, in no particular order;

To explore the world around me - photography makes me look deeper.
To draw attention to some aspect of a scene.
To share
To commemorate
To be creative

Sir your top line is one of the biggest gifts bestowed by the hobby. Artists get it even more, we less talented make do with a machine to enable us.

Marriage and guns could be a dangerous combination - for both parties. My wife has said many times that it's good we don't have any guns in the house. :D

HAHAHA this struck me as funny, but only because I went to a camera show today and I'm realizing that this is not a very inexpensive hobby.

I take lots of wonderful, mind blowing photo's every day. Then, later, when I see them on the computer, I delete most of them. Roll on tomorrow.
