I have an Epson P800 Printer I've had for quite some time. Since I hadn't used the printer, I cleaned and aligned the print heads. All the patterns are perfect.
Now for the problem.
I printed several photographs. One, in an ice rink had a distinctive cyan tint. Another, a landscape, had a magenta tint.
Does anyone know what printer color settings I can use to try to get the printer to print the photos correctly. Assisting with a procedure for the proper settings would help also.
I'm running Win 7, and cannot upgrade, so a new printer is out of the question.

Is your computer monitor calibrated? If not, you're likely getting bad info that's causing you to mis-adjust your images. This shows up primarily when you print an image, because it looks "right" on your screen, even though it's not. Anyone else viewing it on a calibrated screen will see the tints you're not seeing.

We might be able to tell you more if you were to upload the full size images here (remember to put a check mark in the "store original" box and DON'T strip the EXIF info off the image). Some of us have calibrated monitors and can help you rule that in or out as the problem.

Someone suggested emailing the image to yourself and opening it in a phone or other viewing device.... the problem with that is there's no way of knowing if the other device is properly color calibrated or not.... chances are it's not, in fact. Very few screens are calibrated very accurately "out of the box". Most computer monitors are way too bright, causing people to adjust their images too dark. Color tints are more subtle, but are also very common.

Can I assume that the color overlay problem is only when you're printing from your PC? If so, does the problem occur when you print B&W documents or only images that are in color? Could it be a printer driver problem?

Have you contacted Epson support about this?

I'm new at printing my photos but I'm using old printer with aftermarket ink so I print 4x6 prints for casual viewing. It serves my purpose but would enjoy a new printer with my tax money but their were a lot or threads about this and very confusing.
budget say 3-500 and good ink cost.I would never use after market ink in new printer

Well, a quick update.
I called Epson support at 1 (800) 933-0019 and they had taken about an hour to talk to me, and we went through a series of cleaning steps that cleaned out most of my problem. A quick print on Glossy paper ended up showing me a very good print where white is white, and the colors looked true.
I did use Youtube to disassemble the printer to clean out the pads and tubes to the holding tank, and boy were they clogged and dirty.
Thank you all for your pointers and assistance. It really helped me NOT spending another $1,000 on a new printer.
