Maybe for some folks it is awkward to remove the mask while driving. I've done it numerous times and hung the mask on my rear view mirror and have not found it to be the least bit awkward or difficult, but then that's me.

I wear a cup mask with two straps. My glasses ride over the top part of the mask. I also often wear a cap. I need two hands to don/doff the mask.

Hanging things on the rearview mirror may be illegal.

According to a new report by the CDC, 70% of the people who contracted the disease said they always wore a mask.
Another 14% said they wore a mask only sometimes.
However this is in my opinion very misleading. After reading extensively about this disease and it’s transmission potential for months now, I’ve concluded that wearing a mask does not protect you from transmission. However if you wear a mask and an infected person wears their mask, your chances of contracting the virus then becomes dramatically reduced.
A Doctor wears a mask when operating on a person during a surgical procedure to prevent germs from infecting the patient. The same holds true here in the transmission of this disease.
Summary; EVERYONE needs to wear a mask! Containment stops transmission, or at a minimum, reduces it dramatically.
Stay safe everyone, wear a mask.

When this all started it seemed clear that wearing the mask was to protect others. After all, we are not told to wear eye protection even though getting infected through your eyes is quite possible.

But then came the onslaught of TV and internet ads, many claiming you should wear a mask for your own safety. Protecting one's self is more likely to get people to part with their hard earned money. I haven't seen any ad that said wear a mask to protect others.

Exceeding the speed limit is also illegal yet many, many people do it every day.
I wear a washable cloth mask. I can put it on and take it off with one hand.

I understand your sentiments, but any barrier is better than no barrier. Of course, it's not just about protecting others, it's about protecting each other. If you wear a mask, it might encourage others to do the same - unless their name begins with a T.

Yes quite a few do look better. I'm hard of hearing and the muffled voices add to my pleasure of not having to listen. LMAO. Guess there are some real up sides to masks I hadn't thought about. I guess if I had to see people and fully understand what they are talking about I would go from mildly annoyed to being pissed off.

I always where a mask when out in public, but they can be dangerous. I went into an office to pay a bill. A normally friendly dog started snarling and snapping at me. I pulled the mask down and with wagging tail the dog turned around and went to curl up in her bed. Next time I'll just mail them a check.

A funny thing when I shop at Lowes, wearing a mask. I get a military discount, and if it's a cashier who doesn't know me they ask for my photo ID. They laugh as they explain that their manager insists on it.

The real problem seems to be even less complicated:

1. Too many people are (apparently) too stupid to grasp the simple concept that wearing a mask is to protect OTHERS, not oneself. If everyone is protecting everyone else when in proximity, the problem will be eradicated

2. Too many people are sufficiently selfish and uncaring that not protecting others isn't a concern for them, so stay as far from non-wearers as possible. These social lepers are not people you want in your life anyway, and if they infect each other, so what?

And yes, a properly worn N95 or better will help protect the wearer from inhaled matter as well as protecting others.

I wonder how many non-wearers would be happy to see their surgical team not wearing masks?

I hate going into a store and workers and shoppers wear the mask like a chin strap. When people get the virus and tell the medical group they always wear a mask, I doubt most wear it correctly.

The Covid-19 virus particles are passed on inside water/liquid droplets which are hundreds if not thousands of times larger than the virus particles alone, hence trapping the virus. These water droplets can be successfully caught by masks available in the market place to everyone, when worn correctly. That is the real mechanics!

Exactly! That completely misleading “virus size” argument is constantly repeated by mask non- believers and constantly debunked by the fact (either not understood or conveniently left out) that the virus is transmitted through the air primarily by droplets. This misinformation appears in almost every UHH thread on the subject.
