So sorry - I didn't mean for this to turn into the ol' mirrorless vs. dslr thing..... but just looking for anyone with news about the 7d Miii. Thanks guys

On this particular rumored model, what's going on in both the market and the product line have more impact on the rumor than is typical of the rumor mill. Should Canon release any new cropped sensor models, and if they do, why have a 7DIII distinct from a 90D when the products are so similar, given the ##D line has grown technology-wise so close to the 7DII? Or said another way, is there a difference enough / could there be difference enough?

As far as I'm concerned there really is no DSLR vs MILC thing. I own both and prefer DSLR. I have no problem with mirrorless, I have several "mirrorless" cameras but the bulk of my shooting is with my DSLR'S. I have no problem with people who use MILC'S. I do have a problem with the MILC crowd that constantly preaches the advantage of MILC'S and how superior they are to DSLR'S. Why do they feel they constantly have to justify their choices by criticizing others!?

Cost.
Does Nikon sell more D500's than D7200's and D7500? Why did Canon market a 7D II and a 70D or a 7D and a 60D. Because there are folks who want a good decent priced DSLR but aren't interested in the higher priced model just because it has more features than the less expensive camera. Not everyone can afford to pay for a $3600 or a $2000+ camera body but a lot more people can afford a $800 to $1200 camera body.

I concur with you on this matter both have there pros and cons, I certainly like my DSLRs I have never owned MILC camera but in the future I hoped to purchase one and it will be a Canon because I have and investment in L lens.

Canon Rumors has a fairly high success rate in prediction based upon reliable sources. I've followed them for several years and in many cases, the "rumors" are batting high numbers in reliability. Maybe you have information that debates this but I doubt you park your butt in a Canon forum being a Nikon fan.

Just like Nikon, Canon has a strong following of wildlife and sport shooters with a legacy of high end white lenses. The 7D line is their rendition of a pro body crop sensor much like Nikon's D500. Having a 7DIII coming isn't a prediction, it's a spoiler. It's just a case of when.

Definition of rumor (Entry 1 of 2)
1 : talk or opinion widely disseminated with no discernible source
2 : a statement or report current without known authority for its truth

Just love the folks who BELIEVE Nikon Rumors, Canon Rumors, Sony Rumors.
But since you seem to be an expert on Rumors, what is the date of it's release? Since you seem to know. Because you believe RUMORS.

Given Canon's emphasis on the mirrorless bodies, the company has got to be asking themselves internally why / if on anymore mirrored-bodies.

Agreed. Canon is putting all their efforts into mirrorless. I have the EOS RP which was designed after the 6D II. I love it and am considering getting a second one to replace my 5D Mark IV.

Let's take this in a little more meaningful direction. What new features would users be looking for in a 7D3. I would expect that as in the past features will flow down from the 1Dx2. So part of the question becomes what will the 1Dx3 feature so the 1Dx2 advances can flow to the 7D3? More fps, more focus points and tracking features, even better high ISO capability? I think it becomes how to offer new features that drive 7D3 sales but still make it clear that the 1Dx model is the flagship. That said I think the logical release would be to release both new models at the same time prior to the Olympics. So, what improvements are desired or needed?
