Last year the "rumors" teased us by saying the new Canon 7D MIII would be out by the end of 2018......Where is that camera ?? Anyone have some inside info from a canon rep?

Rumors are just that, rumors. Don't put much stock in them.

If you want rumors, follow https://www.canonrumors.com

Given Canon's emphasis on the mirrorless bodies, the company has got to be asking themselves internally why / if on anymore mirrored-bodies.

Canon's remained pretty quiet with DSLR's since they introduced the mirrorless line along with very expensive R lenses. There's talk about a Rebel coming out and a 1Dx III prior to the Olympics. Rumors also of the 80D and 7DIII being amalgamated. No talk about any new DSLR lenses coming out either but I don't think they are done because a couple of their great whites have recently been released.

To many, this is a disappointment but for others, the embracing of the new R and RP cameras are welcome. Personally, I'm a little sour, because I have a small fortune wrapped in EF lenses although the adapter to the mirrorless works exceptional according to reports. Hope you have patience. Seems that's a needed element right now with Canon.

The EF / EF-S lenses behave exactly the same via the adapter: excellent and the same manner as on a DSLR. For many lenses, especially the great whites, I don't see Canon converting these to mirrorless mounts. Rather, where the benefits of the mirrorless flange distance and being able to offer new wide-aperture options, that will be where they focus lens development. The examples of RF lenses at wide apertures has me watching developments with much more interest.

All the comments are most interesting it seems Canon will be going in the direction of mirrorless for now the next iteration will be the PRO version of the mirrorless R camera, I’m looking forward for this Canon camera. Any other’s?

The Canon 7D was introduced in September of 2009, The 7D Mark II was introduced five years later in September of 2014, therefore, assuming there will even be an EOS 7D Mark III It won't likely be officially announced until around the 4th quarter of 2019. I would guess the replacement camera may even be a mirrorless one. Who can say.

From what I've read, Canon has no intention of discontinuing their DSLR lines. As long as there is a demand and an acceptable profit margin, Canon will continue to supply the consumers with what they want. Keep in mind it's a global market and the USA is just one of many local markets Canon caters to. I did read Canon is planning to introduce new flagship models, both Full Frame and APS-C, for the Tokyo Olympic games. Sounds like a 1DX III and a 7D III and possibly a 90D are in the works. They, Canon, are currently paying attention to the beginner market with the introduction of the new Rebel SL III. Get them hooked with a good starter camera and sell more, more advanced models in the future.
My question is, will Canon continue to develop the M series?! Is there a viable market for APS-C mirrorless ICL cameras!? I believe there is, especially in the Asian market.

I know I will get blasted, ridiculed, dogged etc.. by all the mirrorless dudes out there .... but I have had several mirrorless cameras - (I would love to have lighter equipment) And no matter what I do, buy, or try I cannot get the same quality image that I get from my DSLR's. I will continue to buy EF lenses and DSLR cameras. Perhaps I'll go buy a SL3 to itch my GAS until the 7DMiii comes out

Your experiences to date were not comparing apples to apples, especially today's apples ....

Get a full-frame mirrorless and compare the image to a full-frame DSLR. Yes, there are technical differences, so on a strict technical standpoint, they're not the "same" sensor. But in truth, they are the same sensor, one behind a mirror and one not. The differences, now in 2019, is the body that holds them, where at the very high-end, the DSLR is still more advanced from Nikon and Canon than their newest full-frame mirrorless options. That will change over the next few releases / years and DSLRs (mirrored camera) will stop being released, especially cropped sensor DSLRs.

Like I said, according to Canon they will continue to market DSLR'S, both crop and full frame as long as there is a profitable demand. They didn't discontinue their last film camera until last year.
I just recently read there is a 75 megapixel mirrorless in the works. Possibly a replacement for the 5DSr?!
