It's no rumor you're nasty. There's plenty of evidence to support that Crusty :)

It's a rumor. Where is your EVIDENCE? Please give the Canon website that supports your argument. YOU CANNOT.

You beat me to a post of the same rumor link ...

Here's another one. But it may be taken from the other link since it does not seem to be as detailed and well-written.

The interesting thing is the 7D got a major firmware update to 2.0 to give that then long in the tooth camera new features long before the 7D Mark II was announced. We're going on four and a half years into the life of the 7D Mark II and so far there has been no similar major firmware update with any new features. I wonder if there is a firmware update in the works, or whether they're just going to let the 7D II die a natural death.

In any case given the market trends, I have long doubted that an EOS DSLR replacement for the 7D Mark II would ever materialize. I assume that sooner or later Canon will issue crop frame versions of mirrorless cameras with the new lens mount with high fps rates, but that may take a while, or maybe they're just being good at keeping it a secret. Time will tell.

Given the CEO's comments back in late 2018 that Canon products have been lacking innovation, my take on the idea of another 7D DLSR is such a camera won't occur. But what do I know more than anyone ... ? I hardly ever drink tea

Last year the "rumors" teased us by saying the new Canon 7D MIII would be out by the end of 2018......Where is that camera ?? Anyone have some inside info from a canon rep?

Canon is in a bit of a bind here. They need to update the 7d II to compete with the focusing capabilities of the Nikon D500 and also do a slight bump in resolution but in doing so would most likely cannibalize the sales of the of the 1 DX MKII. If they increase the resolution it will detract from 5d IV sales. If they don't make it good enough there will not be enough people upgrading from the MK II to the MK III or they will be quickly bested by the next D500 in a couple of years. Make it too good and it might also decrease the demand for the new 600 mm lens as a lot of full frame users might prefer the current 500 MM IS II on a new and improved 7d crop sensor model.

Thank you Zcarxrg for giving a very useful answer to my question. This makes perfect sense, I hope they can figure this out - or just learn to cannibalize like Fuji and Lumix. But this answer actually helps. unlike the super nasty billnikon who obviously is a sad old man with no friends

According to the usually fairly accurate Canon Rumors website, there will be no 7D Mark III. Canon apparently has plans to replace it later in the year with what I will guess will be a mirrorless crop design.
