He was a gentleman, father, husband, of the highest caliber. Not the greatest of Presidents nor politicians, but still a man of honor who believed in service to the country, and he lived those beliefs.

So, to George Herbert Walker Bush - Naval Aviator, Representative, President, Father, and Husband -

Fair winds and following seas, Sir.

We have the watch.

On the one hand he is able to go toe to in trade wars and stare down countries like China, Canada, and Mexico, yet his personal feelings of inadequacy cause him to be defensive in ways which are totally unnecessary. Can I live with his foibles in order to reap the benefits of his strengths? So far the answer is yes. He is able to see long term and take short term hits for those long term benefits that others before him were not willing to do (and I don't limit it to one President).

History has yet to prove he is acomplishing anything positive with his trade wars, or that he hasn’t done lots of harm. Past history does indicate the harm may far outweigh anything positive to come from it. It will take time for proof to develop. I question that we have the time to risk.
I think what you are seeing is a personality that can not deal with defeat. Not being able to deal with defeat does not guarentee one will not be defeated.

You doubt, yet he is going head on after problems. Better that sitting back and letting them continue on. There are some real problems with China that need to be corrected. The short term affects are merely inconveniences.

I believe that 41 whos life you appear to be celebrating, was horrified by him. I'm sure quotes exist to back them up, but I don't care to research them so believe it or not, as you will. Question, do you believe in diplomacy?
Tell those who go out of business about minor inconveniences. Tell those who go to bed hungry about minor inconveniences. And those who become homeless, and those who lose their retirement, and, and, and
You are backing a "man" who sees everything as zero sum gain and doesn't believe in win, win. Is that how you see the world? If there is no loser to point to, there is no win?
How can you recognize his psychological irregularities and not believe they effect his decisions in a less than good way?

There are a lot fewer people going to bed hungry because of the availabilty of jobs as a result of Trump, so I don't exactly understand your argument.

I'm not exactly sure why the Bushes didn't support Trump or Clinton, because a Clinton win would have been disaster. It would have unleashed a liberal agenda that we never would have recovered from.

Agreed....the obstacles that had been set up to selling/shipping to Europe and Asia despite treaties to the conrptrary were something we put up with for decades and in China’s case the direct (just steal it) and indirect (give us your technology or you can’t do business here) IP theft has been crippling.

If it takes some pain to fix this, so be it.
