My senior pass has been good for my wife and I to enter the parks...recently, before the price increase, I got her a card just in case something happens to me since the cards aren't transferable.

I think all who have used their passes and responded have verified they are still valid, but here is some info from the NPS website which states the same.

Is the Golden Age Pass still valid?

The Golden Age Passport will remain VALID throughout the lifetime of the holder. If the pass holder wishes to upgrade to the Interagency Senior Pass, they may do so in person at any Federal Recreation Area. The cost to upgrade is $10.00 from a plastic Golden Age Passport or FREE from a paper Golden Age Passport.Sep 1, 2017
Lifetime Passes - Zion National Park (U.S. National Park Service)
https://www.nps.gov/zion/planyourvisit/lifetime-passes.htm

What is a Golden Age Passport?

Golden Age Passport was a pass issued by the National Park Service until January 1, 2007. The Senior Pass is a lifetime entrance pass to United States national parks for those 62 years and older. The Senior Pass REPLACES the Golden Age Passport. This is a lifetime pass for US citizens or permanent residents age 62 or over. The pass provides access to, and use of, Federal recreation sites that charge an entrance or standard amenity fee.

Please note that the price of the lifetime Senior Pass increased to $80 on August 28, 2017. It is for U.S. citizens or permanent residents age 62 or over. It may be obtained in person at a federal recreation site or through the mail using the application form.

The "Access Pass" is different than the "Golden Age Access Pass". It is for persons with a permanent disability.

The Access Pass is available free of charge at any National Park fee area. To obtain the pass through the Internet please visit America The Beautiful - The National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass website. It is a free, lifetime pass - available to U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the United States that have been medically determined to have a permanent disability (does not have to be a 100% disability) - that provides admittance to more than 2,000 recreation sites managed by five Federal agencies.

Passes for Veterans

While in a park, active duty members of the military and their dependents can pick up a free annual pass to all national parks. Disabled veterans can get a free lifetime pass. The passes provide free entrance to more than 2,000 national parks, wildlife refuges, national forests, and other federal recreational areas.

Here is the link to the NPS webpage for current types of passes.

Hope that helps.

Not on the Hogg! LOL, I see it every day. It's the nature of the beast. Most of the questions could be answered with a simple google in the first place, but this is a place to share stuff and interact a little with others.

Your right... Anyone could do what I did, Google it and get the same info that I got as well. But also, based on your last sentence, thats what I did... share stuff and interact with others on here, isn't it?

We have had no problems on entering any National Park with our Senior Pass. Last year and so far this year we have visited over 70 NPs without a problem. Both my spouse and I have one and we purchased ours for $10 each over 15 years ago. Since we both drive when we take our grandkids & Great grandkids and sometimes Scouts or other youth groups up to Haleakala NP we figured it was cheaper for each of us to have one.

I wasn't being accusatory, but just pointing out how the Hogg functions. If you look back at the thread you'll see that you were not the first to recommend checking the site and again, this is commonplace. That's all I was trying to indicate.

Dave, I didn't say you were being accusatory. I know others said to check the NPS website. But as you well know based on the posts and questions we see everyday here, many questions could be answered simply by Googling a topic all by oneself. All I did was Google the info and post it for those that might want to know, but don't/won't/can't or whatever find the info themselves.

No offense taken by what you said.

A few weeks ago used a Senior Pass to get a carload of folks in free to South and North Rim Grand Canyon,,,Bryce Canyon,,,and Arches,,,unfortunately did not cover our stay in Las Vegas !!! By the way if you have a Handicap sticker at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon,,,take it in to the Ranger Station or Main Visitor Center for a Pass through the Gate to the Beautiful Drive to the Hermits Rest,,,you will be able to take your car and avoid the Park Tour Buses which are great but crowded....

I used mine last year at Rocky Mountain National Park. None of the five people in the car were charged. (The pass has always been for a car -- not a person.) I also used it three years ago, and when I handed it to the person at the gate he said, "Boy, you don't see these very often."

Am looking at a USGS Store Website that says the Golden age Passport are valid for a lifetime, now whom are I forced to believe

They were good for a lifetime until a year or two ago, when they changed to an annual pass. I hustled to get one before the change. At the time I got it, it permitted me and up to three passengers admission into any National Park without charge.
