Enloop is a software company in San Francisco. The battery brand is Eneloop.

I'm a big Eneloop fan, esp. black Pro version. But I can't leave them in my strobe between shooting sessions without having them drain.

Here's a question for all you battery chemists, and Enloop fan boys out there. I for one am a big Enloop fan. I know its not a good thing to leave any batteries in a device for an extended period of time. However, I'm guilty of occasionally doing so. (okay, maybe more than occasionally) My question is this: Has anyone EVER had an Enloop battery leak? Enloop touts their batteries hold 70% of their charge for 5years, it seems Id be safe for 5 years anyhow. I've certainly had Alkaline batteries as well as cheapo generic rechargables leak, but the rechargables were much older NiCads. Never an Enloop Mi-Mh. So what say you? Anyone ever had one leak before?

Never had any issues with Eneloops. They have been great. Also, the IKEA Ladda rechargeable batteries are actually Eneloop Pro batteries under their own label. And MUCH cheaper than the Eneloop labeled versions.

I Cant imagine what a pain it is to keep 200 AA batteries charged. I don't have enough outlets in the house to plug 50 chargers in lol

2-12 battery rechargers.

Interesting discovery. I have a Logitech keyboard that decided it didn't like the letter "S," and Logitech replaced it under warranty. This is a rechargeable wireless keyboard. Out of curiosity, I took it apart, and I was surprised to see two Eneloop AA batteries exactly where by Logitech battery keyboard has it's batteries. So, these Eneloops were destined to remain inside they keyboard forever, since taking it apart to remove them isn't very easy.

I have been using and recommending Eneloop Pro batteries for many years. I doubt the 70% for 5 years claim based on my experience...more like one year. Perhaps the lower mAh are better.

Lately I have switched to Ikea Ladda 2450 which so far hold up just as well as Eneloop and are 1/2 the cost. DPR tested them and claimed they recycle flashes more quickly.

Yes. There was a recent thread here on the Ikea batteries.
half the price is worth a trip.

My experience with the IKEA Ladda batteries in my flash units echo the above posting. They have performed very well. I use them in my camera bodies too.

I have three Eveready one hour chargers that accept four AA, or four AAA, or one 9 volt rechargeable batteries. The chargers will charge NiCad or NIMH. As each battery completes charging that battery receives no more charge. Great chargers. So to answer the question, nope, never had an Eneloop battery leak, in a charger or a device. I have kept charged Eneloops in my cameras and flashes for a couple weeks or more without leaks.

And Amazon sells their own version of Eneloops, which are cheaper.

Those “quick” chargers at hard on batteries and will shorten the overall longevity of your batteries.

I’ve been using them for about ten years and the only batteries that have not lasted or lost longevity were the NiCads or earlier types. NIMH have given excellent service and hold their charge very well.

I am a long time Eneloop AA user/fanboy. I have purchased all of my Eneloop batts at Costco. I never had an Eneloop leak or not charge or not hold a charge even over long periods of time. I did have Duracells leak, and refuse to charge when they were <than one year old. Eneloops are slow to charge, however, I have many spares so that is never an issue.

There are larger capacity chargers than just 4 batteries. A few of those and a power bar, you're cooking with gas!

Yes, I realize there are larger chargers. It was just a silly image I had of me running around the house looking for a spare outlet to plug a bunch of chargers in. Something I do now with just 1 or 2 chargers.
