Here's a question for all you battery chemists, and Enloop fan boys out there. I for one am a big Enloop fan. I know its not a good thing to leave any batteries in a device for an extended period of time. However, I'm guilty of occasionally doing so. (okay, maybe more than occasionally) My question is this: Has anyone EVER had an Enloop battery leak? Enloop touts their batteries hold 70% of their charge for 5years, it seems Id be safe for 5 years anyhow. I've certainly had Alkaline batteries as well as cheapo generic rechargables leak, but the rechargables were much older NiCads. Never an Enloop Mi-Mh. So what say you? Anyone ever had one leak before?

I never had one of my Eneloops leak on me, a lot of mine are over 10 years old and perform as new!

Thanks for your input speters. That's the general consensus so far. They just don't leak, at least for YEARS. I'm feeling more and more comfortable leaving them in for extended periods of time.

I’ve been using Eneloops for at least ten years. No leakage and they still perform very well.

I have also been using Eneloops for about 10 years. Never had one leak, and have only just tossed three AA units that failed to reach thier rated mAh capacity on recharging.

Those three batteries were first generation Eneloops. The remaining first generation AA’s I use are close to not reaching thier mAh rating on recharge, but I’ll “reshape” them before tossing them. Almost ten years service, outstanding!

IMHO, Eneloops deserve thier standing as the best rechargeable batteries on the market. Just choose the right Eneloop for the task: the white ones have a differing use profile than the Eneloop Pro’s (the black ones). One isn’t superior to other, they just have differing use profiles.
