I've seen cell phones, Ipads, newspapers, nail polish application all while driving the worst I ever saw was a pickup truck coming out of a driveway at a deli, the driver had pizza in one hand, soda in the other, my question, How was he steering?, This in not a joke, really happened.

The jerk was steering with his knee. Hopefully when he does have his horrific accident, he’ll end up killing just himself.

As far as I’m concerned, if you’re pushing over a ton of metal and other materials down the road at 55MPH or more, you should be paying attention! Not worried about the score of last night’s game, a shopping list or somebody’s new puppy. No hand held, no hands free, no distraction. Drive like your life depends on it because it does!

Normal, daily observations on the Wash, DC beltway between 7-9am every work morning.

I would also like to see a law against being a jerk when driving. So few people "drive friendly" anymore. Turn signal - what's THAT? Actually STOP at a Stop sign - why would I do that? "Right of Way" - what does THAT mean?

And last Thursday was wanker day. I had to make a looooong trip out to the desert and I swear everybody was out to kill me...one guy zoomed over 4 lanes without looking and I had to slam on the brakes and vear into another lane so he wouldn't sideswipe me....I blasted him with my horn and he didn't even notice! Even worse drivers then usual - and I'm talkin' LA traffic.....

Half of them are likely high as kites. But actually, considering the number of cars on the road on any given day, the great majority dont drive stupid. For that we can be thankful. I'm pretty sure we all have done some driving while dumb.

Is talking on a cell phone anymore distracting than talking to your passengers, or yelling at other drivers, while driving? Mind you I said talking, not texting.

Just sayin' . . . .

Agree completely Jerry. They should also confiscate the car of a drunk driver on the spot and let him/her find a way to get home.

I AGREE with both.

Hey I saw a guy on the BQE reading the times or other large newspaper resting on the steering wheel of his luxury car, forget which at this point but one of those more expensive than necessary brands, all kinds of s*** on the roads in NYC.

I always carry a phone now, but mainly for safety reasons as I am liable to have to run out of breath quickly or drop in a heap for other health reasons, especially if I am out alone

It seems I see that all the time and its mostly woman. My son uses his through his radio. I told him its still a distraction even though hes not holding it in his hand.

At least if he's not holding it in his hand, he's not texting.

Never mind a cell phone. When I walk across the street to the store, I usually have to nearly run, (I'm too old to run fast) in order to get out of the way of these drivers. I was hit once, and just missed twenty five times on a particular corner.
