Thanks. Had an idea what it meant; just didn't want to use the term sometime and look like I didn't know what I'm talking about. At my age not knowing what you are talking about can be a hazard.

Thanks all.

Good for you!
It doesn't stop some people from looking ....,errrr...non- smart.

At MY age, not knowing what I'm talking about, is normal!

But, some of us cheat by using our in-camera raw processor. Hey, it's still SOOC!

Actually it's a feature, not a fault.

Interchangeable with OOC (out of camera).
There is no such thing as NO processing, unless you shoot only jpeg and never even crop. At a minimum the image is converted from RAW to jpeg or another format that can be worked with, printed, posted etc. And when that happens the image is changed according to the presets (in camera jpeg has a bunch of processing presets also).

GOOD ANSWER!

Or which lens/body should I buy or take on travel. And yes I do generally do skip these threads, however, sometimes I read some really interesting (Grin-???) answers. No harm or offense intended. JimmyT BT

Still better than the question "Which camera should I buy?".

I'm not trying to discourage asking questions, but many times, you can get a quick and accurate answer, particularly for acronyms, by asking google. For example, "sooc photography" returned 321,000 results in 0.41 seconds with SOOC being correctly defined as the top result.

Maybe he just needed a little social interaction. But with posts like yours he probably won't be back.

It's usually a term used by photographers who can't figure out how to use Lightroom and/or Photoshop.

I take it the use of "photoshop" means any generic post processing and not the Adobe product.

We all know the camera does in house post processing to convert the internal "raw" file to the output "jpg", etc. Let's just say. "straight" out is a slight exaggeration but accepted. :) :)

I am old and forgetful; 2 or 3 weeks ago I was shaving my 3 day growth when the battery in my razor died. So I plugged it in to charge and went about my business. 4 hours later I'm at a location where people take photos of Lake Ontario and I'm walking around taking photos and people are looking at weirdly(or so I thought). So I go home and and empty memory cards and go to the bathroom and wash my hands --- and there in the mirror is a man with a half -shaved face... the end...

The other day I saw the term SOOC used in discussing a topic. Couldn't locate that discussion. Can someone explain the meaning of those letters.
Thanks,

I really like your UHH user name and avatar. Funny. Good to see someone with a good sense of humor.

This post shows a complete misunderstanding of what SOOC is.

As I understand this matter, a RAW file contains all the recorded information from a shot, and unprocessed.

This SOOC RAW file, however, does reflect three in-camera exposure settings: aperture, shutter speed, and ISO.

I say so from capturing and editing thousands of RAW files over the years.

But maybe I am missing something here?
