The mirrorless won’t suite me much. DSLR has the size, capabilities and response I like. I’d hate to look at an electronic viewfinder with its slight delay too.

What slight delay? It truly is amazing to see so many false claims about camera gear on a photo forum.

Unfortunately the market drives the business and the market is usually the general consumer. It is usually not the high end that drives the market. I have seen many a superior product disappear over the years because of market shift. It is always the quantity vs quality thingy. While I am all for quality most of the market is not and they want cheap quantity. But there will always be the Rolls Royce but just be prepared to pay for it. Most seem to like the easy button because it is too difficult for them to figure out the quality button.

Sorry, mirrorless just ain’t in my future... others may do as they please. I am.

I still have rolls of Ektar 25 & 100. Just in case it’s discontinued someday. Nice and cold!

Also have cameras that work perfectly fine without batteries. Bet young-uns can’t even fathom that one! Something that works without power... impossible. Imagine working out exposure all by yourself! Kidding.

Getting the D850 soon.

Doesn’t matter what you use, but why spread misinformation? There is no lag in evfs today.

Hate to throw a wrench in the works, I saw an article somewhere (sorry don’t know where) that film cameras are making a come back too. Some company in the US of A is going to start making a new 35mm SLR. Weird? Any SLR is easier to focus through a viewfinder than it is off an exposed screen on the back of a “camera” or a cell phone.

It matters to me.

Well that’s the info I’ve got. Regardless I’m not interested. I’m happy you’re good with electronic viewfinders. Really.

Nobody is necessarily spreading misinformation. The problem is blanket statements made on both sides of any argument. I'm sure there are folks "today" using cameras that suffer from viewfinder lag. Some are probably still being sold. I'd even guess that there are some that have little to no viewfinder lag.

Your statement as well as the one you were responding to, being non-specific, are both 'misguided'.

Well...

I heard digital cameras would drive film cameras to extinction. I also heard that online retailers would wipe out the neighborhood brick-and-mortar stores.

Amazingly, I still see 35mm film for sale at the pharmacy.

Amazingly, I see both 35mm film & brick-&-mortar stores continue to rapidly lose market share daily, weekly, annually. However, there will always be that minimal little niche (film), clawing to survival, that needs to be filled.

True, but strictly as an extreme 'Niche'....nothing more. Definitely not a wrench in the advancement of the DSLR & Mirrorless cameras

Angmo there is NO EVF delay in the latest mirrorless cameras, none..

"Apparently this EVF does 120fps, but there is a noticeable lag when moving the camera vigorously. In sports where vigorous camera movement is a must, this is a deal breaker. Had it came equipped with an optical viewfinder, I think this camera is good enough to challenge the likes of Canon and Nikon. The rep told me that they are working on a 240fps EVF."

Even if the lag reaches 0.000, you know what else has a lag of 0.000? Actual reality. So I'm still lacking the "holy cow, I have to have that" feature that is going to make me sell all my gear and switch.

No lag in my Sony EVF, I have A6500, A7RIII and A7III, none have EVF lag, even when I move the camera, a fact. Believe what you read, but as a pro I believe what I have found out in actual use, not rumor. Anybody that avoids great mirrorless gear because of misleading statements , well that is their misfortune. There are folks looking for any rumored shortcoming to bash mirrorless. Yet mirrorless camera makers are leading the photo world in tech and features in all formats, micro 4/3, APS-C, fullframe and medium format. From Panasonic to Hasselblad mirrorless is securing its leadership with better and better products being released and embraced by more and more photographers. Fact, not fiction or rumor. Too many folks are holding on to what the first mirrorless cameras had as shortcomings. Well the newest mirrorless offerings have addressed and eliminated all these old arguments against mirrorless. That is why they now lead in performance across the board.

Why is the guy I quoted's user experience "rumor" while your experience is not?

I've been around the block a few times, and I can spot a homer a mile away. I'll be impressed when the skeptics are impressed, not the guy who's quoting the Sony press release.

Believe what you want TheDman, I will continue to use my NO-LAG EVF and make great professional photos. Post ANY review for the A9, A7RIII or newest A7III and show us all here in UHH any that talk about and show any EVF lag. Prove this point, that is all I ask TheDman. Cheers

Use what you like, I have said that multiple times in this discussion. But don't spread falsehoods, not borne out by your own personal experience using mirrorless cameras. Do you really believe that top Sports Pros covering fast moving subjects, and who have their cameras in constant motion following fast Olympic athletes would be using mirrorless cameras if there was EVF lag as they move their cameras to follow fast skiers, swimmers, skaters , football receivers in the Super Bowl, fast tennis players at the US Open and more. Get real theDman.
