Gentlemen, having served in our state legislature for 14 years, (7 terms) I have a little insight on this issue. I have always said that the term limits are in the ballot box. If a candidate receives a majority of the votes he/she is elected for whatever term the office is legally obligated to.

Having said that, I must further say that term limits do not work the way you may think. Most politicians after they retire or are unelected go to work for lobbying firms there they continue what they were doing in the congress working with all their former colleagues to pass legislation that favors whoever they are working for. They are able to do that because under the term limit scenario the new folks coming into office have no idea how to run the government as all those with the institutional knowledge such as the chairmen of the committees are no longer there.

You want change elect good people and if you have people in office that are not doing their job, speak up and un-elect them. They represent you and are accountable to you. But remember, it is a majority rule, if you lose, then you have to work harder to change the office holder.
