Additionally, eliminate the 17th Amendment and let the state legislators determine their Senators as originally written...then they have to represent their specific state or be removed by the state government(s)

Sooo...why can't we ever change the D.C. crap.? Everyone knows that it's terrible. We seem unable to rid ourselves of all these WORMS. We are akin to a third world country when it comes to corruption in government. We need to start a movement to cleanse the crudd. Drain the swamp. really. Sign me up for the revolt. RJM

Why does serving in the government corrupt so many? What happened to patriotism and wanting to serve for the sake of the nation? How about a stipulation that if you have not served in the military or in some voluntary patriotic capacity you are not qualified for elected office?

I assume you are kidding, barring the great bulk of the population from serving in, I assume, national office. While I greatly admire the military, I do not believe that serving in such is any qualification for running for office, nor do I believe that not serving should be any form of disqualification. There are some small minds in the military, just as there are some great ones who have never served.

Not to mention the huge number of small minds who haven't served and who are now populating our government...agree that serving is not a qual for holding government office.

Do you think the corrupting money interests cannot buy a new Representative every 6 years or a new Senator every 12 years? This would just mean less time to take bribes. Once a Representative had a good "relationship" with their corporate sponsors they would be a shoe-in for the Senate spot when it came open. When "corporations are people" we all loose. Corporations are not people - they are pieces of "legal paper" usually filed in Delaware. No, they are not people and they are not created with "natural rights" like people supposedly are.

BTW: Jerry Brown (GOV of CA) is on his second run of term limitations.

Just how did he get elected 4 terms in about 30+ years?

Gentlemen, having served in our state legislature for 14 years, (7 terms) I have a little insight on this issue. I have always said that the term limits are in the ballot box. If a candidate receives a majority of the votes he/she is elected for whatever term the office is legally obligated to.

Having said that, I must further say that term limits do not work the way you may think. Most politicians after they retire or are unelected go to work for lobbying firms there they continue what they were doing in the congress working with all their former colleagues to pass legislation that favors whoever they are working for. They are able to do that because under the term limit scenario the new folks coming into office have no idea how to run the government as all those with the institutional knowledge such as the chairmen of the committees are no longer there.

You want change elect good people and if you have people in office that are not doing their job, speak up and un-elect them. They represent you and are accountable to you. But remember, it is a majority rule, if you lose, then you have to work harder to change the office holder.

You want an eye opener, go see the new movie out "Chappiquiddick" the story behind Ted Kennedy's crash that killed a young staffer and the cover up that kept him in office for over 40 years...

Lets not forget that SCOTUS ruled in 1995 that in the absence of a constitutional amendment, neither states nor Congress may limit the number of terms that members of Congress can serve.....Term limits are based at the ballot box.

When is the POTUS going to Chappdick with Stormy?

BTW: Was Stormy born in USSR? Is she the connection to spygate? Did she urinate on the bed?
