My mother was the greatest Italian cook, she lived in the kitchen and made everything out of scratch since she was 12yrs. Old, there was 8 of us and nothing was left on that table when we ate, especially that squid or the Italian saying GOLAMOD,I think that's how you spell it.She used to get the squid on 9th street in philadelphia, that's where I used to live, the Italian section near south street. GOD BLESS MY MOM miss her dearly.l know she is whipping up a dosh for the angles up there.

Thank You, for your response, Steve Tog, I did not know I had a spelling error, excuse me . . . I seem to go
too fast with my ONE HAND! I do check carefully . . . AP

How do you know a Squid has testicles? Pull up it's tentacles and look.

Have you ever tried Calamari Steaks? Great grilled with butter and herbs.

What a wonderful response, dirt pusher! I love grape leaves, and especially Ouzo! Did too much Ouzo in my days . . . No complaints from me! Must remember - THE SHIP CHANNEL IN HOUSTON! My niece lives in Houston! CIAO, AP

There just a line of restaurants from several different countries along the channel. All pretty close together

Well, I don't care for squid or pasta but it's a nice image. I'm glad you didn't photograph the testicles, though.

I think he meant "tenticles"

Squid with Testicals?

I think you might have meant tenticles, but you never know.

AP. Looks great, always been afraid of cooking squid due to the exact reason you stated. Only once did I try
but it was 'rubbery' and lacked flavor. Will have to try again. I've gotten in to using papparedelle noodles, wide
and hold the sauce. Another great image of some good food.

Many love Pasta as I do! But, Squid may not be so! One of my favorite pasta I love, is wide noodles made with NO-YOLKS! Squid, on the other hand is better than you think! Probably the biggest issue with "Squid" is, it's often cooked too long, too far, will not stop cooking!!!

Squid is tasty indeed! We start with boiling water for your pasta of your choice. We'll not go into this process, again, do not over cook! Al dente, PLERASE!

Now the SQUID! I cut as shown, in rings, and added Testicles to coconut oil with a strong tab of butter, seasoned with: oregano, sweet basil, Italian season, dill, a sprinkle of thyme, and red pepper flakes, on high for 3 to 4 minutes, NOT LONGER . . . !

Pasta was mixed with my pre-made Marinara Sauce and added to Squid with Testicals, (look closely) too pasta, then plated! SIMPLE and TASTY!

It's lent! CIAO, AP

You are right about Lent. For us New Yorkers who had a mother who came from Italy, WIDE NO YOLK NOODLES in place of anything would be cause for a beating!! Why not Calamari instead of Squid? Please tell me you did not use cheese. Mangia Bene

Another fine dish, AP! I do not eat seafood so squid isn't my thing. Pasta...yes! I'm glad you eat and cook (and photograph!) a variety of foods. Some people get into a rut and only eat certain things. You seem to have a lot of knowledge about foods and nutrition. Always look forward to your recipes (even the seafood ones!).

Makes my mouth water, but I have not eaten squid for over thirty years, when I started keeping kosher. Thanks for the memories.

What a wonderful story concerning your Mother's, fine Italian, cooking! Love to hear and read those real family cooking stories. That's how those delicious food recipes are past on to others for enjoyment to this very day! Some even write them down for future use like, John Lawrence.

He has many of his Mother's fine Italian recipes and has made a 3-ring binder cookbook for his family to have, what a great idea. Now his Mother's fine Italian food recipes will continue on . . . Then, at the dinner table, someone will say. Boy, this is very good! Just like mom, made! CIAO, AP

Glad you responded, rgrenaderphoto! Thank You, once again, for correcting me using the wrong word. I have done this in the past, I have to make some kind of rule that will help me in the future, don't know what to look for. Any help in english from others is welcome!

Love to try Calamari steak in the future; have eaten Abalone steak years ago, hard to come by here in the east coast north of Boston! AP

You are correct, Fiddle Maker, good hearing from you! Even rereading, my mind seems to pass errors made! But, I love to write . . . I take
my time and still, errors are not corrected! AP

I will comment of the photograph AP it looks delicious, but I'm still laughing! Does squid have a fishy taste?

Good to hear from you, Islandgal! I think most things mixed with pasta in its delicious sauce is tasty! Also, squid does not have a fishy taste, however, if you cook it too long, it is chewy like rubber! AP
