Jeff: Welcome to the forum. Regarding the price of Nikon lenses. Currently I only have Nikon lenses (having sold - or given away the non Nikon lenses). The are:
Nikkor 10- 20 mm, Nikkor 24 - 120mm, Nikkor 70 - 300mm, Nikkor 18 - 55mm, Nikkor 50mm, Nikkor 82mm and Nikkor 135. The only one I bought new was the 50mm and that was because it was packaged with an Nikon FM in 1978. I have always bought used, from all the different vendors (amazon, ebay, craigslist etc....) and have always been happy with what I got. There were some items I declined to purchase once I saw them, but overall,; I would say used is the best way to buy Nikon lenses.

Good Luck Jeff and welcome to the forum. I'm pretty new to the community as well as a rookie.
Just to clarify, Sigma have two 10-20 lens that I know of, the original was variable aperture and the later one fixed. I would do some googling and find direct comparisons. I bought the original Sigma because it was the only 10-20 made for DX at the time, and was well received. There were other options such as the Tokinas already mentioned, I think they were all available at the time. But the differences are a little hard to keep track of, and to be honest, it's easy to get confused over which may be sharper, which may have more CA, more distortion or contrast. Maybe even choose your criteria and try and eliminate from there. Modern software is much better than when I bought mine. Nowadays one of the Tokinas may be better for me, they're sharp and the CA can be eliminated in post. Strangely the Nikon 10-20 isn't liked by all.
Welcome to UHH Jeff, glad you joined us. I see that you have received many suggestions, I will let you chew on those for awhile.
Have fun, learn and enjoy the forum.

I don't know if anyone has pointed it out prior to my post but eBay has an open box demo Tokina 12-28 f4 DX listed for $200 or best offer.
Welcome to the forum.

Hi Everyone,
I am new to Uglyhedgehog.com. i have been looking over the site, the photos, the comments etc... Gotta say, this seems to be a great community that I feel privileged to now be part of. I do have a question for anyone who is willing to answer. I have a Nikon D60 and D3400. I am looking for a decent 10 to 20 mm wide angle lense that does not have a fish eye affect. Any recommendations?
Thanks in advance.
Jefg
Welcome to the hog Jefg. You will get some good recomendations about your need, but since I currently only have the 18-55 that came with my d3300, which I like, I cant give you a recommendation......
