I've been researching the Canon 77D too, because it has a considerably smaller body/form factor than the 80D. It is actually considered part of the regular EOS line now, and is not labeled a 'Rebel,' unlike The T6s. However, it is the replacement model for the T6s.
Update: I have purchased the Canon EOS 77D and am very happy with it. My main reason for purchasing it over the 80D is simple: Form factor. I like working with a smaller camera. The 77D is 'Rebel like' in its size, with several new features included. It is the same size as the T7i, with a top LCD Screen. The processor is fast and the 45 point auto focus is amazing. Love this camera. With the mirrorless trend toward smaller camera bodies, this camera might be a strong seller. it is a good choice for someone who wants the flexibility of a quality DSLR in a smaller body, without the expense of buying mirrorless lenses. This camera is just slightly larger than my Canon bridge SX50 HS.
