OK, you need to be more specific. My results for the search on Google came up with a bunch of different renditions. The first was only 3:33 long, so I never got to 3:38. Please post the actual link to which you are referring.

The 45 single in my music collection lists the running time as 3:29.
The digital version provided to YouTube by Sony Music Entertainment has a running time of 3:35: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Np_66D-KrK8
Any other versions, especially on YouTube, are videos created by fans, so there's no telling how long the running time might be.
"Kodachrome" peaked at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. Ever since then, all other things being equal, Nikon has always been just a wee bit more expensive than Canon and the others. Remember, I said "all other things being equal." It's the reason why I switched from Nikon to Canon when I went to buy a new camera in 1978 and am still with Canon today.

Ron specifically said to search on youtube for "Paul Simon - Kodachrome (+lyrics)"
That gave me the youtube site http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4ltLp30KVs
That is 3:38 long, but I don't see any detail at 3:38 other than the switch to another clip
At 3:26 there is scrolling text about Kodak axing Kodachrome 35 years later. At 3:37 the scrolling text ends with "The End" going off the top of the screen.
There is maybe a quarter second of a screen of just yellow and red with no text before it starts loading the next clip.

You'd have to go find a YouTube video that goes to 3:38 or longer.

Back in the old days??? I still buy 100ft rolls of film, Ilford Delta 400. Pro packs of 120 Ilford FP4+, and boxes of 25 sheets of FP4+ 4x5. I stuck with Kodak until they decided to not support me. They quit making several films in 4x5 and several all together. I didn't want to play mix and match. So, Ilford has been supporting my photography since.

Back in the old days I would buy Panatomic-X and Tri-X in 100-foot rolls and make my own 35mm canisters at any exposure count I wanted. Did all this in a dark room.

Old song, old news.

Old songs are the ones I listen to the most. I have no use for rap crap. I have Sirius FM in my car and I have that set to the 50's and 60's music. A few rhythm and blues stations

Quite a spread. Did it indicate the dollar difference? I wonder if they listed the entry level vs the higher end and what contributed to the dollar value. As a retired trader for a hedge fund. The dollar value has true worth. I believe the increased use of cell phones and their ability and progression to take very good pictures will put a dent in both companies bottom line. I'm 74 and have a D610 with a 28-300 MM lens. I have no need or desire to upgrade. Next time when you are out and about taking pictures. Look at the age group of those with DSLR's and the models they are using. My observation is the age group that would generate growth is not walking around with DSLR's every one has a cell phone and they use that. I wonder what the average age is of those who are members?

Here? I read the stuff as being typed by folks over 60 and close to 70. Few women and these appear to be younger.

But I am no sure this about age. It is more likely that it is about financial security. Older folks have a tendency to be wealthier than the next generation, even if is not always true, especially with the next coming out of the wringer that is life. Many of the old fart were raised directly or indirectly by folks who lived the depression and these folks have transmitted their frugality that pays off now. They have a spending power the younger generation does not have and may never achieve.

#MeToo

me 3 except it was only tri-x and the canister was attached to my camera as i shot sports. What a difference 50 years makes - tri-x pushed to 1600, no flashes and was lucky to get 2 good shots out of 100 at basketball or volleyball. As soon as game was over i was in the darkroom processing it, making a contact sheet, picking 1 image, printing it with only cropping and dodge and burn to post process then it was on a device i can't remember the name of which scanned the image line by line and sent it out all the wire services with the game story.

Shot many kodachrome 25 for backpacking landscapes. Now I shoot sports with popper on camera and big strobes up in the rafters, full color at 100 asa and usually 1/500 or faster.. usually shoot 300 to 400 images in a game and laughs still only get 1 to 2 keepers....

The funny thing is I dont really like the feel of the old films anymore especially the color slide ones. In the mountains there was always a color cast and the distance shots always looked hazy. I've scanned thousands of those into digital and with my processing software have gone back and made better images than what i could in those days.

finally love the song!

@ 3:37 Not 3:37 long

He's pointing out that the song is 3:37 long..so there can be nothing worth noting after that; 3:38 is 1 minute after that song ends.

Edited to add: I see that you changed that time to 2:42 but nothing of note happens at 2:42...

The article I read was quoting some larger data set and didn't go into details.
The cell phones are taking the place of the small low end point and shots. Some of the high end cell phones are probably cutting into mid range, esp fixed lens cameras with people who just want a picture - no need or desire for high IQ images. A certain % of those people will start to get the bug for more versatility and higher IQ images and move up to good quality fixed lens, mirrorless and dslr interchangeable lens cameras etc. And of course there will always be a % who want high IQ and versatility from the beginning. As to upgrades, the tech keeps changing, often in big improvements but when the improvements get to be small increments, like with most computer gear, people will start to stick with the gear they have for a long time, not seeing any need to upgrade as long as their gear works and gives them acceptable IQ.
A mature market, then the camera companies will have to go through a major adjustment in the way they do business, how many models they offer etc. If anyone comes out with an affordable camera body that can have parts upgraded like tower computers then a larger % of people will go for that (I assume high end) body and upgrade instead of getting a whole new camera. Esp if it is in the realm of newer sensors and controlling software. In the film days the cameras pretty much kept working for many years and you added newer lenses while just starting to use the new improved films in the same camera for many years. My Miranda Sensorex was purchased in late 67 or early 68 on R&R in Tokyo (I forget which) and I continued using it, plus a second body obtained in the early 70s and an Olympus body adapted to use on a telescope until I went digital around 2000, they are stored and still work if I ever get the bug to try film again.
