Assuming the money didn't matter, but you wanted to keep it at or below $6500 - what would you pick? ... Nikon D5, or Fuji GFX 50S?

well if I really had to choose from the 2 I would get the D5 as have lenses that fit. You have a great turky day also

Yeah, you did, actually ....

The point here is this: for a paltry!! $6500 - you could buy either the top-of-the-line Nikon D5 (a 20mp FF FX 35mm DSLR) OR a Fuji GFX 50S (a 50mp Medium Format Eye-level Mirror-less Dig Cam) ... sure, you'd still need a lens ... but, hey! ... you can't have everything!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving, Terry ... don't eat too much!

Yeah, me, too, Terry ... but ... a 50MP Medium Format Mirror-less Dig Cam - really moves me to spend that kind of dough, more than a 35mm FF 20MP DSLR .....

I dunno ... makes a helluva lot more sense .... think on it!

Yeah, thanks, Terry ....

No turkey for me ... stuff puts me to sleep ... it'll be chicken, as I always have ...

But, never-the-less ... you're right ... Turkey Day ... I guess I can always add some cranberry jelly, huh?

Yeah, but does it taste like turkey?

It would be foolish to buy either one with that budget (they don't function well without a lens).

Oops. That was referring to my trip to France this past October.

Oh, yes, I see, Allen ... French Cuisine is the best, isn't it? ... It's all those cream sauces they use ....

So, did you like the English food, or not, Allen?

No, I guess not ... hey! ... chicken ... turkey ... it's all poultry, right, Allen?

I make this chicken-veggie saute ... it's actually quite delicious ....

You start with a chopped onion ... add a whole garlic clove ... saute in a little olive oil ...

Add a plum tomato - halved and quartered ... then some baby carrots ... then a cut up broccoli crown ...

Then you add your chicken - pre-steamed, peppered, sliced and diced ... add a little olive oil, some Teriyaki sauce, and some Thai sweet chili ... add some cashews ...

Stir and let simmer ... then serve on a bed of brown rice, covered with Thai hot sauce, add some almonds ... the blend of the sweet and sour - is really invigorating!

And, oh ... did I say - deeeeelicious? .... yeah, I think I did .... well ... not quite THAT way ...

I was mostly responding to his original post stating the Fuji was a DSLR. He corrected that.

Me? I like to do on-location portraits, very little sports and never birds in flight, so the Fuji would be a great one for me. If the skin tones are anywhere near that of my S5pro, it will be amazing.

If you like the S5 Pro ... then you'll feel right at home with the GFX 50S - promise .... this is one helluva great camera, Jim ... here >>>>>>>>>>>>

False choice. Purchase Pentax 644z.

Neither .....MF = Pentax 645Z - lots more lenses available than Fuji and I am a tele guy - I know, heavier tho .... and some day there will adapters for Fuji - but probably not fully integrated.

Full frame - Sony A9 or A99II .....

Film?? - Graflex Super Graphic 4X5 and 4 lenses - 90, 120, 190, 250, lots of Velvia 100 and 400 TMAX - with money left over

But, of YOUR 2 - the preference would be the Nikon - the most practical ! - but the Fuji more fun .....

644Z, huh, RE ... is that new?

Or do you mean the Pentax 645Z?

This is an EYE-LEVEL dig cam - very much like the Pentax 6x7, in form ...

The 645Z takes on the form of the RB67, et al ...

If money doesn't matter, why do we have to stay under $6,500?

Yes, I made a typo.

DxoMark scores for 645z are better than for D5.

Nikon users think DxoMark is important in the few days they're at the top.
FF advocates think size of sensor is important when comparing to APS-C or smaller

Meh. Doesn't look worth the trouble.
