K5lls user here. Started with a K-z(still use it). Next came a K20D and a K10D which I got to give to a nephew. Gave a niece the K20D. My best lens...... DA 16-45/4 and a DA 35/2.4. The others are really inexpensive and do a good job as well like my A50/1.7 and a F35-70/3.5-4.5. Pentax make great gear, best bang for the buck.

One of your pentax's has the pixel shift. The K1. I know the K3II also has it, but it premiered on that body I think, so your K3 does not have it if I am right?
However, my question to you is what you think about the Pixel Shift. I am interested in using it for a High Res capture with a Macro lens, to sub for a scanner. The High Res, Macro lens, and bellows with slide attachment should yield a far superior image over the poor scans one gets on flatbed scanners. I have done this with my Olympus EM5 Mk II to get a 50 Mb image in the sensor shift mode (8 captures blended together) And now know I will never buy another flat bed scanner, and probably pass on drum scans as well.
???????

There is a guy on Pentax Forums who is using his K-3 or K-3II, I'm not sure which, like you are wanting to do. You might want to visit Pentax Forums and ask the question.

Pixel shift was first introduced on the K-3II in 2014 so there are now four Pentax cameras available with Pixel Shift the K-1, KP, K-70 and the K-3. All Pentax cameras with IBIS are sensor shift either 3 axis of 5 axis.

Still miss my spotmatic. Wonder how many Hoggers started with one.
I started with one, with a 50mm lens - I think f1.8, but my memory is foggy. Good camera to learn on, but I didn't care for the mount. Luckily I could only afford the one lens, so the mount didn't matter. :)

Nope - I'm right there with you with a K1000, MX, ME Super, K5, along with a plethora of lenses and several IQZoom point 'n' shoot compacts. Also, I'm looking to acquire an LX if I find one at the same time I have a some extra cash.

Pentax sure doesn't have the two top best-selling cameras under $750 for nothing!!!
Oh, btw, in case you were wondering ... those two are the K-S2 and the K-70 - both at $600 apiece!

Now, wait, Larry ... if "pixel shift" was INTRODUCED on the K-3 II - as you've indicated .... how could it ALSO be on the original K-3?

You didn't care for Pentax Screw, or you didn't like K2, Splat?

The Pentax screw mount. Cross thread it and you could ruin the camera.

Oh, I agree ... but the K-Mount's been around for a zillion years now ....
Goes back way before Digital, even ...
Anyone got a date handy?

Hereyago, Splat ...
The Pentax K-mount, sometimes referred to as the "PK-mount", is a bayonet lens mount standard for mounting interchangeable photographic lenses to 35 mm single-lens reflex cameras. It was created by Pentax in 1975, and has since been used by all Pentax 35 mm and digital SLRs and 110mm format, as well as the MILC Pentax K-01.
I believe this would make it 42 years old, now ... 43 years old in another month ... if I did the math right ...

Its not on the k-3. I own one and no such feature, you may be thinking of "sensor shift" stabilization which has been on Pentax DSLRs for quite a while.

There you are ... see - I didn't think it was on the K-3 ... but you seemed to indicate it was, by virtue of it being on the K-3II ....
I didn't think they could back-up built-in features ... although, it would be great, if you could - on cameras, huh?
Now, of course ... Sigma has introduced this USB upgrade port in lenses ... for downloading changes in the software ....
But - cameras - on this level? ... no can do ....
Your quote - from earlier, Larry ....
