Hopefully I'll be back to North Padre Island in February. If you are thinking of going south for the winter you'd do better to head to Florida. North Padre Island is too quiet and pristine for most people.

Doesn't look too quiet with all those vehicles on the beach.

Definitely shoot less outdoor in the Winter. Much more indoors at family events

I shoot more in the summer, as the winters here are frequently rainy. If travelling however any season.

Ah, I see, Rydabyk ... about how far are you from Mobile, Alabama?

That's right down there in your direction, somewhat, huh?

Skied all over Vermont. From Mt Snow (too many tourists) to Mansfield when my knees weren't made of titanium. Even took my camera with me to Killington. Shot the slalom races when film cameras didn't have burst rates. but my power winder ( frames/sec) helpled a little. Cold didn't bother me. But when it was below 0 the fire in the lodge was better than skiing. Make that 2 frames/sec with the winder.

From what incident, did you transfer from flesh and bone, to the much more rugged titanium, Bob ... ? Skiing accident, was it?

Just thought I would post this so you can see what it is like mid winter (June 22) in my neck of the woods.
This was before sunrise.

Lovely shot, Richard ....

Yeah, so December for you, is midsummer, huh?

Still, considering everything ... June 22nd, isn't exactly blizzard-time, huh?

Thank you, Chris. When I get something that is worthwhile, I will do so. Of all places, with all the greenery, it was Ireland that got me back into B&W, a couple of years ago.

Sure, D2B2 .... glad you took me up on the invitation ... is this cemetery in Ireland? .... must be, huh?

Listen ... I hope you'll forgive me for saying so, but, they don't call Ireland - The Emerald Isle ... for nuttin'!

By shooting B/W there ... you're missing all that lush green color .... yaknow?

Think on this, I beg ya ...

Daily but try not to during Arizona summer months. I only shoot then if I am selling a house and need photos for my listings. Fall, winter, spring is when I enjoy it the most.

Perhaps the question should be "do you shoot different types of images in the different seasons". Weather can be a factor in what you choose to photograph in any part of the world. In my little corner of the world (Seattle and the Pacific Northwest), I do a lot of birding in the winter months, focus mainly on landscapes in spring and fall, and in the summer months focus more on people portraits. There are a ton of migratory birds here in the winter, spring and fall landscapes can be stunning, and summer brings any festivals and tourists to my city. So I personally am out with my camera during all seasons but my subjects change as the seasons change.
Perhaps the question should be "do you shoot ... (show quote)

Thanks, Saxman .... your point has been duly noted ... and I shall consider it for a future question. The implication, of course, may well be made within the overall context of this very question, but, sometimes, things are lost in generalizations, so I may come back with such a take as yours, at another time. You've made a very interesting and purposeful point. Thanks for answering in that vein ....

I'm afraid that's true of me. With my physical limitations, the cold weather is practically a death warrant for me, so I try to enjoy what interior (or through glass) photography I can find. Hard sometimes, but it's sort of like a slow, simmering pot about ready to boil...when Spring arrives I seem to 'boil' and release all my photo emotions I've had to hold back on, if that makes sense. Of course, there is always 'table top' photography and that sort of thing, but to answer your question -"Yes. Much more in the summer".

Okay, Joe .... another seasonal clicker ... cold can really keep you down, huh? ... I seem to delight in photographing snow scenes ... either away from home, or here, at home ... either doing stuff through the windows, or through the open door ... I was trying to figure out a ratio, earlier ... which is why I decided to pose the question. I can't, honestly, Joe. I seem to see more snow pics on the monitors, but, it's not really, by much ... so, considering I don't upload EVERYTHING, it's probably half 'n' half .... I guess ... er, but, then ... maybe ... nah ...

It gets really hot in July and August during the summer months in Arizona, huh, Homes? ....

What is it, most days ... like 105, 110, 115?

It's good that you get out every day, the rest of the year, Homes ....

Soak up all that good Vitamin D - whenever and wherever you can ....

Neat, Jeff ...

I say ... that one on the left looks like a guy's leg with a shiny shoe at the bottom ... doesn't it, now?

I wonder what you could do with that in LightRoom, or some other such editor ... might be fun trying, huh?

BTW, Jeff ... where is North Padre Island? ... What part of Florida?

But, that's okay, too ... as long as you shoot, every day ...

Have to admit I shoot more in the Spring, Summer, and Fall. The winters here can be
pretty brutal, but I always have to get one decent shot to put on my holiday card.

Here in Hawaii it is always summer-like, so mostly summer. :)

My surfer friends on the North Shore say there are only two seasons in Hawaii, surf and no surf. :) The winter brings big waves to north facing shores, so I do take a lot of big wave surfing pictures in the "winter", but they aren't what most people would think of as winter pictures.

No snow in So. Calif. unless I go up to the mountains. Summer or winter makes no difference. Even when it rains, can go to the desert and get out of it.

Tell me, Hassig ... by "Southern California" - do you mean just LA, or San Diego ... or somewhere in-between?
