I tether. Sometimes make my own out of rubber bands. Sometimes annoying to make sure it's out of picture.

Iā€™m glad someone brought this up. Suspect this is a conundrum for more than a few people. Have one attached to lens; irritating. Have several attached to camera strap; feels like you are wrangling a snake. May try just putting them in my pocket. But, then, what do I do with keys?šŸ˜€šŸ˜€

Do you only have one pocket?

I leave a cap on the lens when it's home, but when I'm shooting, the cap's in my pocket. With a lens shade and clear filter in place, I'm not concerned about dirt. It's a good idea to make sure the cap isn't carrying pocket lint to your lens.

Good idea, Jerry ...

Glad to see someone else on here, who tethers, Rev ....

You know, tho' ... they're really inexpensive ...

A buck each for the cheaper ones ... maybe two bucks for the better ones ...

And, they look a whole lot nicer than rubber bands, Rev ...

Yeah, see ... I thought that, too, Dennis ....

But, we're thinking coats, jackets, pants, etc. ...

T-shirts - tend to have only one ....

Usually I wear pants even with a T shirt.

Of course I mean no offense, I am just joking. I don't care where or even if someone carries/uses a lens cap.

If you don't use either kind ... what do you DO with your cap, when you're shooting?

Trolling are we? If so it's working. I do know where I would like to shove your lens cap.

Heck NO, I don't tether caps!

When I was about three years old my mom used to tether my gloves when I wore a coat. I learned quickly to hate that also.

For what it matters to everyone, when you put a cap in your pocket, remember to have the inside of the cap facing outwards in your pocket. That way any condensation will not form on the inside of your cap as you eventually replace it on the lens.

Untethered. I just turn my cap around so the bill doesn't get in the way of my shooting...

The only problem doing that is the weird sunburn I get on my forehead (which has gotten bigger every year, as my hairline recedes.... but at least I'm more aerodynamic now.)

(My lens caps also aren't tethered. I remove them and put them in a pocket while shooting.)

If I tether my lens cap to the body, my camera automatically switches to .5 megapixels as punishment.

My caps are not tethered. I put them in my breast pocket on my shirt. :-) Cheers.
