The reviews are starting to come in for the Nikon D850. To quote from Photographyblog: "Offering a compelling balance of size and speed, the Nikon D850 is the best all-round DSLR camera that we've ever had the pleasure of reviewing. This is really the one camera that can do it all, from landscapes to action, reportage to weddings, the D850 handles it all with aplomb." I anticipate the three usual responses: 1)we don't have enough information, 2)there's no such thing as the world's best camera, 3)mirrorless cameras rock. What other bodies would you nominate for world's best?

Another response: your title mis-represents what the article says.
It does not say "best pro camera"
It does say "best all-round DSLR camera", leaving open, for example, the possibility that there might be a {or even many} medium format MILC that would be a better choice for a pro.

Well, if you're taking about, "PRO" cameras, I believe Nikon thinks it ONLY makes one pro camera, and the 850 ain't it!!!!

Well at the Nikon USA website Nikon listed the D5 as FX flagship, The D850 as FX professional, The D750 as advanced entry and the D610 as entry level. So Nikon does call the D850 professional.

I am not after D850 because it’s too much of a camera for me, so I don’t really follow D850. But even I came across a few qualified opinions on line and they all say that the Nikon D850 can handle pretty much anything and it makes D850 a good candidate for the title of Best all-round Pro camera. I read and heard it several times and have no problem believing it. So, why argue?

There is a big difference between "candidate for" and "winner". I could cite examples, but I don't want to start this thread towards the Attic.

You should note that my headline is NOT in quotes. I wrote that same type of headline when I first got the specs from Nikon. That post got around 10 pages of responses. So this current post is reprised from that older post. The quote from photographyblog (the only thing in quotes) stands by itself and buttress' the headline but does not prove it.

Hey, I'm all for it.
See, all they had to do was take the pop-up flash off, and presto!!! LoL

That is my point - nothing here proves your point - it just continues the argument.

The site and reviewer are quite reputable. It is an English site of long standing.

It is no doubt that the D850 is the world best all round pro camera now. It has the high resolution, fast and accurate focusing, low light capabilities, fast fps, weather sealing, good dynamic range and video capabilities and other features to make the best overall camera currently available. There is a lot of other very good cameras but for those who look into the specs it is easy to figure out that the D850 is the best of them all. The reviews are only to confirm the specs in my mind. I have for some time admired Sony for their latest cameras but it is obvious that Nikon beats everyting Sony has to offer with this camera, in general terms. Same goes for Canon.

And I think people should just be happy about this, as it will put the pressure on the main competitors to catch up or do better with their next models. This is how we can buy better and better cameras almost every year now. Nothing bad about that.

I don't see any reason to disagree, based on my expedience with the D850.

Seriously, the D850 looks like a winner. My D750s are fine for me, so I'm not tempted to buy this new model, but it terms of performance, I wouldn't nitpick with the reviewer.

World's Best Camera? Like anything else in electronics and especially cameras these days, its only as good as the next iteration or the next "world's best camera" and based on the advancement of technology, that shouldn't be long. Seems the difference between the top tier 'Pro' cameras these days are miniscule. World's best camera? Whatever camera you choose to record what your eye sees. Mine is my current camera. However the hype never ends on a new product and....hype sells.
