Well that's up for debate........

I am confused. Won't the most expensive one give me the best image?

I agree. We learn more that way. I've always noticed that the more I teach, the more I learn.
Oh, it's not so lonely being at the top. Me and my two friends rather enjoy it that way, being so superior. It's like watching a pack of dogs fighting over a pile of fresh meat. Once you've acquired about all of the knowledge that I have, it's rather amusing holding onto the answers and watching the scuffle that follows. It's also similar to chumming for sharks, eh?

Well I managed to get a shot of the eclipse without any filters, destroying my camera or blinding myself:
From San Francisco!
Yup that Water/Radio/Satellite/whatever tower is most definitely eclipsed by the cloud cover..

It's a good thing you used the RAW setting on that Ol' Brownie..I was able to process it a bit more. I hope you don't mind. Your image was spectacular by itself but I was able to bring out a bit more of eclipse' highlights
Well done on the incorporation of the eclipse.

Natural filtration of tree cover, nicely done.

I spent 39 years teaching high school Biology, and one thing I tried to pound into my student's heads is, "There is no such thing as a stupid question, no mater how many times it has been asked before." I hope I never become so intelligent, so superior as a photographer, that I feel comfortable making fun of people's questions. It must be very lonely at that top level of photographic superiority and intellectual superiority. For me, I would rather stay low on those totem poles.
I was taught that the Only "Stupid Question" is the one that isn't asked.

The appropriate setting for a wedding is entirely up to her. I would just stay out of it.
Isn't the venue (aka setting) usually determined by both the Bride and Groom, as in a mutual decision?
Didn't even have to read the post - figured it out from the acronym. I totally agree! Except they're still broadcasting pics on TV and interviews with ophthalmologists about those who didn't heed the warmings..

1) which is better: raw or jpeg?
2) I'm looking to get a new camera and don't know if Nikon or Canon is better.
3) I'm also looking for the best walk-around lens for either of them
Three items?? Well, now the eclipse is over - lets get back to normal and have a go:
1) which is better: raw or jpeg?
There is endless debate over this - personally I like food cooked -
2) I'm looking to get a new camera and don't know if Nikon or Canon is better.
If you get a Nikon - you are stuck with it for life.
A Canon can always be fired.
3) I'm also looking for the best walk-around lens for either of them.
Speaking from personal experience, a normal walking stick is best,
A lens long enough to walk around on is rather heavy, and the camera not a good handle.
Did I say normal?? Well it take time to get over sunstroke - or is it "Lack-of- Sun"Stroke?

Thank Goodness The Eclipse Is Finally Over....
Now we can start discussing other important stuff... Such as whether or not to use "protection" filters or what's the "best camera" or the "right settings to use for....."!
How about shoot in RAW or JPEG, we never discuss that!
