You have it backwards! Its 60mm on a FF, but will give you the field of view of a 90mm on a APS-C body!

So if it is a 60mm lens has a field of view of 90mm would that not be on a FF camera the 90mm

I put a 400mm on a FF and then the same lens on apsc becomes a 640mm equivalent on that camera is that equivalent in relation to the FF camera? in other words you would need a 640mm lens on your FF to get the same view as the apsc got with the 400mm.
The OP is absolutely right the way they put it.

Don't see the word "equivalent" in his post. Words mean things.

The way you use them, words are mean things.

The use of a marker, such as "oh", should be followed by a comma. The omission of the comma could wreck countless trains.

You can't understand words that aren't there. Making assumptions about the meaning of poorly worded statements leads to massive mis-communication.

What massive miscommunication? Everyone clearly knows what was meant. That's all that really matters.

And yet, your rraction to my statement shows an out of context interpretation. Reading comprehension is also a problem.

Now we have a real dilemma. A bunch of letters that don't spell anything. If we assume to know what the author means, trains could crash from coast to coast. I guess it's best to just ignore the statement and hope it all goes away.

Yep, my bad. Typos do happen. Better to own up to it than to say everyone knew what I meant.

I have a old tamron 90mm, on a aps-c that would be the equiv. of 135mm. how would that work as a portrait lens?

Anyone with half a brain knew exactly what he meant, but there always has to be a nit picker who has to spoil his good feeling about his new lens.

Seems as if FF and Dx cameras create different lengths because of the the actual camera.

You will often see the different ratings or measurements when lens are sold and can be used on different cameras.

I dont know why it just has always been a factor in the industry. On one camera you might see that a 18 to 200 will act more like 25 to 240 and things like that.

I used to use tamrons and sigmas. I went back to Nikor but lately the Tamrons have held there own and at a great savings.

16-300 is shart fast and saved me about 600.00
