"Ohmmmmmmm..."

Why are we talking about electrical resistance on a photography site?

WHY ARE YOU PEOPLE WRITING ABOUT GUNS WHEN THE QUESTION WAS ABOUT POPULAR PHOTOGRAPHY???

Because us people like guns. I tried to hijack the topic down a Star Trek trivia path, unfortunately went over like a lead balloon. Now, about your caps lock key ...

Well, maybe I'll learn something. Do you think the last issue of Pop Photo will become a collectors item? Mine is guaranteed to stay in mint condition. It's digital. 😜

Yes, in 25 years it will be priced at $5 on ebay.

April 2017 was their last issue. They are giving subscribers Popular Science for the remainder of our subscriptions. Swell. I would have preferred a refund.

I subscribed thru Amazon and got a $0.56 refund.

Perhaps you should just take a selfie! That might eliminate the problem!

Calling semiautomatic pistols "automatics" is perfectly valid. That's what the were originally called. (.45acp from Colt Automatic Pistol for example.) I have a 1915 dictionary that gives it as a definition for "automatic" So your use of the term is fine.👍 I only go all gun geek over the "clip vs. magazine" argument. 😀

Doncha think we need to be a bit more concise with our terms, among today's mal-educated hoplophobic masses? I like the use of "semi"-automatic.

Hoplophobic? You're afraid of rabbits?

Perhaps because resistance is never futile! Even when the Ferengi are involved!

Perhaps, But I also respect history and just was pointing out the fact that both terms are technically correct. Trying to explain firearms to the hoplophobe is not productive anyway. If we gun owners finally get them to understand that semi-automatic means one round fired per trigger pull, Then they'd just use that knowledge to try regulate double action revolvers as "assult weapons". 😉

Not necessarily, but it's time to take this discussion to either chit chat or to the attic, it is now getting too far off target to be relevant in a photography section. The discussion of terminology is interesting, but this is not really the place for a whole number of reasons.

The Attic?!? Great suggestion from someone (you) who told another user to shoothim self:

Remember this snarky bit you wrote to the guy who liked guns?

"Perhaps you should just take a selfie! That might eliminate the problem!"

YOU belong confined to "The Attic".
