Yes, amen! Peer pressure must be intense.

What will they think? ....

"Ewwww..your using a mirrorless??!! Micro four thirds ewwww! Not full frame ewwww! Your sensor is too small - no OVF! Your camera is too small!"

I just laugh it off... I don't need dSLRs for my work.

There *are* still specific use cases for dSLRs. But mirrorless gear is eliminating more and more of them with each new body.

Well known pros such as Daniel J. Cox, Will Crockett, Giulio Sciorio, Tony Northrup, and Griffin Hammond all use mirrorless gear for some or all of their work.

Yes and no. Sony does have adapters and two third-party adapters for Canon are excellent and maintain full communications, focus, exposure etc. Fuji does not have adapters (That i know about. But some Fuji folk will correct that statement.)

Sony and Fuji are the only ones for me, but others have their preferences. My main consideration is the aps-c sensor. Obviously the only MILC with a FF sensor is Sony. I have a Sony a6300 and a6000. Probably will go for the a6500 at some time, but may skip a generation as the a6300 has almost everything I am used to with my Nikons.

I do use an adaptor with my older Nikon 400 and with a Rokinon 8mm fisheye. That works quite satisfactorily.

CaNik have both dropped the MILC ball. The Canon M5 comes closest but it also is far behind Sony or Fuji. The Sony has the best and fastest autofocus on the market. It also has great follow-focus and eye AF. The biggest weakness of the Sony line is the lousy menu system which is not nearly as user-friendly as either Canon or Nikon.

Ah! therein lies the answer. EVFs from "a few years ago" cannot be compared with today's EVFs. Tech moves (and improves) so fast - frightening!

People still think inkjet prints fade... yet photo quality inkjet inks have been tested to last five times longer than dye-based, chromogenic (silver halide emulsion) traditional photo prints.

EVFs in the latest cameras are excellent. They've been quite good for several years.

You'll have an electronic viewfinder. Maybe rent first to see if that's what you want. I like DSLR cameras because you're seeing the scene exactly the way it is.

Have you used the Fuji XT-2? Seeing the scene the way it is is not nearly as good as seeing the picture the way it will be. If you have not tried the Fuji, you have no idea!

Fuji has adapters, but Fuji lenses are so far superior, you probably will not want to use your old Canon/Nikon glass on a Fuji body/

EVF shows the image as the camera will record it. A big advantage IMHO.

But if you know what you are doing you will know what the image will be, even before you look through the viewfinder.

Just kidding ... really!

I have several Nikons and 2 Fujis. The Nikons might as well be paperweights. I am just too lazy to sell them. I certainly no longer use them. Anybody interested? Lots of nice lenses too!

I just wonder why pro photographers have not adopted mirrorless cameras.

Generally, I think, they are not the type of folks that change cameras unless ther is a compelling reason, such as the spee and lack of finder blackout with the new Sony, and it is also because Canonikon have the best understanding of that market and are the best (not to say good) at dealing with those customers. Sony's track record of warranty problems with their consumer goods may bite them on the ass.

And with mirrorless you're seeing the image exactly as it will be rendered.

Canon or Nikon.

Fuji doesn't make adaptors, but Fotodiox and 2 or 3 others do. I have a drawer full of Nikon lenses, legacy and AF, that I use very successfully on my Fujifilm body.

No, I haven't tried the Fuji XT-2. I have tried Sony. As far a seeing the picture the way it will be, I can check LCD screen on the back of a DSLR camera. I'll see if I can rent the Fuji sometime. Thanks for the tip.

But if you know what you are doing you will know w... (show quote)

This is what people using OVF's keep telling themselves - trying to make themselves believe it ........

For most of us, most of the time, that is WAY too slow/late !

An optical viewfinder displays everything at the speed of light. There's zero chance that fast action will result in blur using the viewfinder.
