Check the reviews on the 35s. I understand the 1.2 is very noisy (searching focus) and not as sharp as the f-2

Reviews are mixed. When buying a 35 you are usually looking for speed and 1.4 beats 2. The older, faster, more expensive lens is just as sharp (maybe a little sharper) at F2, but the F2 has better flare and ghosting control. If I go used, I can get the 1.4 for less than the new 2, so I am still undecided.

The 18 - 55 is a wonderful lens. I also have the 18 - 135 and the 50 - 230, and a mirror Rokinon 300. I want to buy a prime 35 but don't know whether to get the 1.4 or the 2. The 18 - 55 will stay on your camera almost permanently. It is sharp and small and very versatile. Here is a shot I took yesterday of two of my puppies. You can count the hairs on the red pup!

What breed are these cuties?
The 18-55 is my most used, but I love my 14mm Fuji lens. Crazy sharp! Also have a slew of Nikon manual focus lenses I use with an adapter. The 85 f/2 works well.

They are 5 week old Lhasa Apsos. I have so far loved all my Fuji lenses. What's not to love? They are all sharp, well made, smooth handling and make great images!

They are adorable!
Yes, you are preaching to the choir.
Not sure what Fuji lens I want next, it's a when, not an if.

CatMarley -- one more question.. what lenses do you have? There is a kit lens option with a 18-55, or body only option. Do you have the 18-55 ? Or should I go body only, and get something different ? THANKS for your time

Hi .... being a Fuji user I thought I'd chip in from the UK ...... just a few comments which you'll find everywhere when you really begin to explore the world of the Fuji X-Series.

Please listen to Cat and goofy - both experienced photographers, plenty of experience with other camera systems, yet, as with many these days, migrating towards Fuji for personal use.

One of the most common comments you'll hear from long-term and experienced photographers who have ditched DSLR is "using the X-Series cameras and lenses has rejuvenated my interest, small, light, easy to handle, simple menu system, a joy to use".

ALL Fuji's XF lenses will produce great quality images. There's also a wide range of choice, depending on your own needs and depth of your pocket.

The 18-55 "kit" lens is like no other "kit" lens. It's a magnificent lens to get anyone started, is light, covers most-used general focal lengths, and may be the only lens you buy. Goofy bought this lens with his first Fuji and came to Europe for a family holiday with just those two items.

Here's one of the early reviews of this lens which helped me decide to ditch Nikon and go with Fuji X ......

Which camera to go for if you've got a "clean sheet"? Either of the X-T2 or the X-Pro2 depending on your own taste.

Other lenses if you want to stay small and light - the 14mm, 23 f2, 35 f2 and 50 f2.

Lots of UK pro's now using Fuji X ....... here's a couple of examples ........

Thank You so much for all your nice and informative responses. I am pretty sold on this camera - just have to come up with the $$$$ now. It is going to be Ebay time ! It has already been a very stressful year, my dog is very sick with Immune Mediated Thrombocytopenia, her chances are slim. So I could use some "All Smiles"
Thanks everyone for your positive responses !!!

Once you start using the Fuji, you will find using any of your old cameras very frustrating. It is a friend. Sorry about your dog. I am a dog breeder for the past 40 years, I know how it hurts to be unable to help a dear one who loves and depends on you.

How do you like the 100-400? Weight, IQ? Stabilization? I'm thinking of the Leica Pany for telephoto with MFT and using the Fuji for street and landscapes. It would be nice to have just one system though.

It is not a light weight. But is quite balanced on the XT2. Image quality is excellent. IS is a strong feature. This is definitely not a walk around lens. A need to work out your primary uses for it. A couple of bird shoots point to a significant value this lens brings.

Got my XT-2 yesterday. Love it. Have to get used to the new menu, otherwise much the same as XT-1, only better! Wish I had gotten another kit lens. That lens is hard to beat: tiny, fast focusing, sharp and a nice, useful range of focal lengths, from moderate WA to portrait.

Congratulations !!! I am so excited for you (and a little jealous). If it hadn't been for this $5,000 vet bill this month I would have bought one. But I have to get my Visa billed paid first. My dog looks a little better today, every day there is a new turn with this illness. She has to go in for another ultrasound Tuesday. UGH

Keep me posted on all your first test shots etc...

Here is a crop of a jpeg straight from the camera. Don't tell me this camera is no good for action! Nothing faster moving than 5 week old puppies sparring! Taken with the kit lens with flash, no PP except cropping out undesirable elements. Focus lightning fast and accurate!
