I have an XT-1. And if the 2 is an improvement in any respect, I WANT one! Saving my money now! The XT-1 is a beautiful instrument.
Had the XT-1. Have the XT-2! No comparison. This is one of the finest cameras I have ever owned and I have owned a few.

Agreed, Bob.
Fujifilm really do listen to their users.

Hello, everyone! I am fairly new to photography and still learning. This is my first time to join a conversation with this group.
I am in the same boat with you. I have a Sony RX100 II and am thinking of updating it to RX 100 V or Nikon D750 (all different 'apples'). However, I have heard and read good things about Fuji XT-2 and a co-worker owns one as well, and he swears by it (he sold his Canon DLSR and everything that went with it). I am not sure if I am ready to learn again in terms of manipulation of controls since the XT-2 has a different configuration. I need more convincing from the experts if it will be worth it to go for XT-2.

Manipulation of controls is the last thing I would consider as a problem with the XT series. All the controls are dials on the body. Almost nothing that you need to change while shooting is hidden in menus. So if you know the relationships between aperture, shutter speed and ISO, everything you need to control your exposure, subject motion and depth of field is at your fingertips. You have complete external creative control, but if you choose to use, it you also can set the dials to auto, and you have a point and shoot. Best of all possible worlds!
Thank you, all, for your opinions and suggestions. Now, I am closer to buying Fujifilm X-T2 and just keep my good old Sony RX100 II 👍😊

That's like asking is a Ford better than a Chevy. If you want image quality as good as a mid range DSLR without the bulk...you should love the XT-2 but keep in mind it's larger than a RX 100.
So sorry I abandoned this post - I was out of town, sick dog, etc.... Thank You for all your answers on the Fuji XT-2. I'm looking for a camera that is a little lighter than my 7DmII for my purse. I have a Sony RX100 IV for my purse, it takes great pictures, but it is SO BORING to use. I was considering a Rebel, maybe the new t7i. but then started hearing about this Fuji XT-2. I would go for it - but we are talking 3 grand with some lenses.
So I'm torn.... dip into my retirement for the XT-2, or be responsible and stick with canon so I can use my lenses, either t7i or M5 ?????????

GREAT article !!! THANKS
There are numerous articles out there by professional photographers who are now using the Fuji camera. I have the XT-1 and am waiting for my backordered XT-2, and can attest to the truth of all that is said about the fuji XT system. It is the best compromise of all the best things cameras do. The build quality, the controls, the IQ and above all, the COLOR. I have given up shooting RAW, the Jpegs are so good, and the skin tones are just beautiful. They make my Nikon shots look cold and artificial. I want to get rid of all my Nikon gear now: 4 digital Nikons, and a slew of lenses. anyone interested? Best offer.
Thanks Cat - that information is exactly what I was looking for !! I have 3 Canons and 2 Sony's right now - I think I will sell some of that and start saving for the Fuji. I am excited !! Thanks for the great info !!!
CatMarley -- one more question.. what lenses do you have? There is a kit lens option with a 18-55, or body only option. Do you have the 18-55 ? Or should I go body only, and get something different ? THANKS for your time
My xt2 is still on backorder from B&H. I ordered it with the kit 18-55 and the grip. I was considering the 16-55 but it weighs a ton and cost $1200.00.
I think my next lens may be the 35 f2. I also was a Nikon user for the past 50 years.
The 16-55 balances beautifully and produces wondeful IQ. No IS however,

Whilst I still use the Nikon D810 and D750 I am increasingly using the XT 2 as my walk around camera especially for street photography - so versatile and less obtrusive than the Nikons except when you put the 100-400mm lens (a superb lens) on. The XT 2 is a winner for Fuji and for the fervant photographer. Using a range of lenses is a joy (23mm 1.4, 35mm 1.4, !8-135mm, 55-240mm and 16-55mm.
How do you like the 100-400? Weight, IQ? Stabilization? I'm thinking of the Leica Pany for telephoto with MFT and using the Fuji for street and landscapes. It would be nice to have just one system though.

The 18 - 55 is a wonderful lens. I also have the 18 - 135 and the 50 - 230, and a mirror Rokinon 300. I want to buy a prime 35 but don't know whether to get the 1.4 or the 2. The 18 - 55 will stay on your camera almost permanently. It is sharp and small and very versatile. Here is a shot I took yesterday of two of my puppies. You can count the hairs on the red pup!
