My wife went from a Sony 50X to a Canon 6Ti with the 55 and 300mm kit lenses and would like something to recover some of the reach she has with the Sony. Can anyone suggest a decent lens I could get her for around $1000 to $1500?

Check out the Tamron 150-600 zoom....around $1000 and has great reviews. I have the Tamron 200-500 and have been very happy with it.......good luck!!!

Check out the Tamron 150-600mm G2. I'm guessing about $1500. Very good reviews on this lens. Even by uhh members who have bought it. Comes with a 6 year warranty too.

"Tamron lovers" seem to forget that Sigma has comparable units.....

I think Sigma have a 150-600mm now but I have the 150-500mm and it's brilliant...I don't have troubles at 500mm like some "reviewers" (?) seem to whinge about...

Go with the 100-400L vrii. You'll find that better than a 500mm.

The Canon 400mm f/5.6 or even better but more pricey is the 100-400 mark II. I don't know much about the Sigma and Tamron 600mm lenses but I know that nothing focuses on a Canon better than a Canon lens, sometimes other manufacturers have a hard time because Canon does not share the technology, the 3rd party manufacturers have to reverse engineer with it and sometimes have difficulty.

The full frame equivalent on your old camera was 31 to 465. The 300mm equivalent on your new camera is 420. With the bigger sensor you should be able to crop to the same quality now. The big zooms from all these vendors are heavy, primes are lighter and faster. I am older and a couple of hours walking with the camera and lens talks to you. It comes down to what you want to shoot that needs more reach than you have. If it is BIF or sports you need fast focus. I want zoom for sports. Good luck.
